When wallpapering you should draw a plumb line and use that as your straight edge to start wallpapering, not your walls ceiling or skirtingboards as you will find they are never plumb..

There's no reason to have a gap at the top of the wallpaper. You simply hang the wallpaper with overhang at the top (just like you do at the bottom), and then trim it up afterwards. That way it's both level/straight and goes all the way to the edge of the wall.

I have not had a single landlord allow painting, wallpaper, changes in lighting, or hardware . Many have not allowed nails, screws, or tacks for hanging things on the walls. This would be such a dream to get a landlord to consent to something this amazing!

Around 1980 a friend of a friend had the powder room in her post-war home done in a floral wallpaper with a black background sort of in the style of a still life as is popular today, but she had a black sink and commode. That was *awesome* ! That’s what I like about older bathrooms (1930s-1960s), the sink, toilet, and bathtub matched and usually matched either the main color of the ceramic tile or the accent color. The floor tile matched the walls giving the bathroom a very spa-like, almost Grecian effect, especially during the Art Deco years.

I really liked this makeover. I think by thrifting so many gold things it avoids that cheesy cheap gold look that can happen with accessories. I did immediately see the wallpaper not lining up. With such a big bold print it really stands out.
