navalverde12 For one thing Thomas and Guy actually didnt play too many instruments on the new album They wrote, composed, arranged and to some extent played on the album. They hired people such as Giorgio and Nile so that could technically "sample" them. Its a fresh new approach to bring back the oldschool feel that inspired them to start music and sampling. Its an homage album, to express their love. Im a big fan of their oldschool shit. But their new album is absolutely amazing in every way. Every album THEY CHANGE THEIR STYLE. Thats what they're about. Homework was a raw, hard hitting gritty, oldschool house record channeling hard acid sounds. Discovery was a lighthearted Sample based french house record. Human After All was an experimental, crushed form of electronic music. TRON was an absolutely magnificent orchestral movie score. And RAM was a live instrumentation (which HAA also was to some extent) homage album. If you want "oldschool daft punk" the song Contact is actually a song Produced by DJ Falcon and Thomas back in like 2002, it was slightly updated for the album ;) Thomas and Guy have explored many different sounds and subgenres and will continue to do so. They never do the same thing twice. Thomas's words not mine. Oh and by the way, Discovery was entirely sample based and they barely cleared any of the samples... I dont really think you can get away with that too often nowdays.

navalverde12 Yeah man I do agree with you that it's hard to samples cleared but Daft Punk changed music forever with this style and if someone came along, made the effort and did it again, the music industry as a whole would benefit and minds would be blown. Daft Punk tried to change music again with RAM but when they see that the 4x4 beat structure of most popular dance songs won't budge, hopefully they'll swing back round and try this style again with the likes of Alan Braxe and Dj Falcon.

Ethan Shrouder Actually, quite the opposite. Ive seen a lot of musical changes with artists lately due to RAM. People are still sampling beats, and making songs just like this. Some are well known and others arent. Why? Because of the shitty beatport top 10 hits that are constantly released, thats why they did what they did. They felt a need to stop the synthetic top 10's that are constantly being made. But lately theres been an influx of oldschool disco tracks , Electronic producers are even collaborating with musicians more than ever. Give it a year or so, and you will see a change. Thomas and Guy still have another album to release in the next 2 years or so as well, before they tour with their Alive Tour ;) (once again their words not mine)
