Pubs closing 3 till 5:30 in the afternoon, oh I remember those days. Many thanks for posting this wonderful recording.

I am currently in the Philarmonic in Liverpool on 4th July 2024 . Alexei paid for his beer in coins, slightly more expensive these days £6.50 for a pint of Paulaner German beer.

12:19 brilliant commentary on art schools. Definetly the best part of the video in my opinion

I've not seen this classic comic roots for forty years so itz great to be able to see it again. I remember I watched it with my mother and she liked some really boring crap, but even she found it funny. I'm enjoying it right now with 105 pints of crap fizzy lager, a dozen family chocolate cakes and a beef vindaloo all served in the same pig's trough, bloody lovely mate, so thanks alot for this, oh no, time for my medication again, so goodnight everybody.

Is that Peter Stringfellow at 25:25? and also isn't the Barman at the Philharmonic Pub in Liverpool at the start of the program the long serving policeman from 'The Bill'?
@jonny_sparksАй бұрын
No, not Stringfellow. By 1983 he was already rocking a dyed blonde shoulder-length mullet - Limahl style. Also, this guy has a different face.
@jonny_sparksАй бұрын
Re. the barman: It does look a bit like Eric Richards - he played Sgt Cryer starting in 1984. He was already an actor in 1983 - so maybe he's just playing the role of a barman here? For comparison, here he is in Going Out, from 1981: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqvUioefqLZprdk

Alexei Sayle - 1982 - Comic Roots (Full) 2330pm 27.3.23 probably the era wherein milano thought mopping the floor was a profound moment in his life as he scuffed a myriad epiphanies of a Blakean hue... as for the list he dished out re: them all being bent - well, sir.. i doubt owt's altered int hat respect. pity they aint bent in our favour, eh? i am sat bemoaning the loss of the corporation gardener... p.s alexei sayle interviewing mark e smith would have been nice... the only place, the train, where the moral imperative to pooh pooh and decry one's intemperate drinking has not been enforced...

I doubt Mark E Smith would have got on with him, and why on earth would he interview him ?

@@Jlipnicki Alexei Sayle - 1982 - Comic Roots (Full)31.3.23 1827pm have you any inkling of who mark s smith was or is...? i cannot confirm his death. he was the alleged purveyor/appreciator of pop culture and singer/songwriter for a music group termed the fall. have you any idea who alexei sayle is or was? i cannot confirm his death, either. though i am told he lives in a villa in spain near to where some alleged relation of mine lives. i say alleged as i cannot confirm or deny where my relations are at this given moment in time. come to think of it i cannot confirm who my relations are.... as for why such a meeting of minds would have been entertaining 1: they had or have a lot to say 2: both like(d)a drink so that obviously fuels some semblance of camaraderie 4: they had political savvy - probaby of the same bent (though one surmises smith wanted out of his impasse as opposed to Alexie who enjoyed his left leaning russian speaking interminable woes) 5: i am "on borrowed time" so that suggests anything approaching cowards saying what they feel is cool by me...
