I got the G80SD exactly one week ago. And yes, it's true. The glossy panels are giving you a sharper image than this "matte" panel from Samsung. However, the advantages you get during the day heavily outweigh the disadvantages in comparison to the glossy. At night there is almost no difference between the two types of panels. Also consider that this matte is LESS matte than the WOLEDS. I love this monitor. I compared it the Alienware and MSI. Kept this one.

I bought and tested both the Samsung G80SD and the Alienware AW3225QF. I ultimately decided on the AW3225QF, but not for the reasons I thought. Originally I wanted a flat glossy panel, but the options were far more pricier and either the Samsung or Alienware. So I thought I'd have to compromise and either get the curve I didn't want, or the matte finish I didn't want. In the end I ended up liking both the curve AND the matte finish, the two things I actually wanted to avoid. In the end I chose the Alienware due to superior colour accuracy.

I had one for almost two months and it's amazing. The only issue I found was that the monitor would go to sleep instead of turning off when you press the power button. The issue with that is with multi monitor setups. If you only want to use the second monitor then Windows would recognize the G80SD as being "on" and letting your mouse go over there. It would also randomly flash the second monitor. Which is quite annoying. But other than that it's an amazing monitor.

I have two of these and while the experience has been mostly good there are some drawbacks: - No built in KVM - Two remotes that turn off and on both of the displays (this is an issue if one of them turns off and not the other - then you end up just using the buttons on the display) - The absolutely humongous power brick (especially now that I have two of them) - The port placement (why oh why are they not facing down?) I had an Asus PG32UCDM before these and I returned it because of the purple tint (which pretty much isn't an issue with the coating on the Samsungs) and horrible aesthetics. You also had to use an adapter in order to get VESA compatibility.

I really need help! I work shooting and editing videos and photos and I can’t decide between buying the new Odyssey G6 27inch 1440p OLED or buying something with 4k resolution. I searched a lot and for now I decided that is worth more to have the G6 with the OLED then just a 4k resolution. But is really hard to decide because all my cameras record and take photos at 4k. My next option is the G8 32inch 4k, but is way more expensive and I can’t stop thinking if I will really see a big difference from G6 1440p 27inch to the G8 4k 32inch, the smaller screen in the G6 may compensate by having less resolution then the G8. If the difference will be noticeable I might invest a little more and get the G8, but does the G6 is not more then enough? Or should I just get something for the same price as the G6 with a 4k resolution that’s no OLED screen? Please help me 😂
