1. PC Shop guy being a real king to his customer. I suspect that he recognized Linus tho, but still the king. His work is clean af. 2. A young gentleman gets to meet one of his favorite KZbinrs, plus, gets a sick PC. His reaction was priceless and relatable. 3. A young lady gets excited about her buddy/boyfriend/sibling having one of the best day his life and celebrates that. Her reaction was also adorable and again, relatable. One of the best videos I've seen on this platform for a long time. Awesome.

100% this was the best LTT video in years, this is the kinda stuff I wanna watch. I really like that linus has been doing a lot of videos with just him in them, when the crew is all there things get silly and at times cringe. I knew Linus still had it, he had me worried for a while seemed like his ego got a little big too but in the last few month the quality of the content has gone way way up and he seems way more down to earth. I thing getting so big so fast he forgot who he was for a while. Maybe that whole linus gate ended up being a good thing in the end and he prolly has way more time to do videos now that hes not the ceo of a 100 emplyee team. Keep it up Linus!

This is one of the best LTT videos I've watched in a while. Please do more of these, like going to a local shop somewhere, supporting a small business, and giving the finished product away to someone. The only thing I'd change would be to interview the person who builds the tech at the end of the video, and reveal everything them at the end. I think that would not only make them very happy, but it would also show us the passions of the people that run these shops. Very good video, thank you!

Interviewing the builder would mean that they mention who he is, and the name of the store... and then LTT would be kinda responsible for whatever they do with the new clients they get. It's almost like a "sponsored recomendation" but without the sponsor part, so it's not worth the risk.

One thing no one seems to ever check is the spec sheet for the CPU itself.. for a 7950x3D, max memory speed is 3600 with four DIMMS.. (the seller probably already knew this) Trust me I learned this the hard way.. there is no stable AM5 system that is running over what the CPU is rated for. Max Memory Speed: 2x1R: DDR5-5200 2x2R: DDR5-5200 4x1R: DDR5-3600 4x2R: DDR5-3600 (from the AMD website)

I was born in Taiwan and have been to Guanghua Mall many times. Taiwan is a tech country, so lots of people, especially the younger generation, have pretty decent knowledge in computers. Besides, Guangha Mall is like one of the biggest tech mall in Taiwan, the competition there is crazy, people would literally argue with you and leave you bad feedback if the part is $100NTD ($3-4USD) more expensive than another shop. So you can hardly get ripped off there. And judging from the shop owner's reaction, it's very unlikely that he knows this channel. There are already tons of tech channels from Taiwan and China, and those are the channels the tech enthusiasts in Taiwan would usually go to first. About sending Line message at midnight - it's just how people are like in Taiwan. People in cities usually stay up pretty late because there are still lots of things you can do/place you can go in midnight. The shop owner might finished the work at 9pm, had a dinner with his gf at a restaurant, went to a night market, came back home and took a shower, then dropped you a message before go to sleep. If you want you can reply right away, or you can just leave the message unread and reply the next day. We wouldn't really consider dropping a Line message at 2am is rude, unless it's a phone call.

I live in Taiwan and have bought a number of PCs at Guanhua. My service in general always been good too. He said it will come with a one year warranty, but the components will likely have longer warranties if that is what they came with. Even better, they often go beyond what they need to. I had an MB problem on my 3.5 year old computer, leaving the MB out of warranty. I brought it into the service center and they verified the MB was dead. They contacted MSI for me and I was quoted $1000nt (~$30usd) to service it. Included in the $1000 was shipping to MSI and back to Guanhua. Three days later, they called me and said my computer was back and ready for pick up. When I got there, they hooked up my computer and ran some diagnostics. I can't be sure, but it looked like the MB was brand new, though I can't be sure about that. After the diagnostics on the MB, the tech (perfect English, used to live in Hawaii) said he felt it was a little slow to boot up, so he ran diagnostics on the drives. My main m.2 drive wasn't performing as well as it should be, so he suggested getting a warranty replacement on that. I said I would clone the drive first and do that later. At that point, he said that MSI was going to wave the $1000 fee, the shop wasn't going to charge me, and sent me on my way home. A few days later, I brought the m.2 drive back, they tested it, sent it to Kingston, and a few days later, called me to come in and pick up the new drive. All of this on a 3.5 year old computer, part of which was out of warranty. I love the service here in Taiwan. BTW, the shop you bought from probably wasn't quite as independent as you might have though. There are a handful of main shops that have outlets like the one you were at, but they are all part of a big company. I don't know all the names, but I know mine was part of the CoolPC group, and there is also one called CarBuy. The builds are all done at their service centers on Bade Road, within a few hundred meters of Guanhua. I would be shocked if your seller was any different. Probably being a part of a big organization is why they can get even kind of rare parts as quickly as they do. You didn't mention it, but unlike what a lot of people might expect, there is almost no haggling/price negotiation here. You might get a relatively tiny discount, or a few freebies from manufacturers thrown in, but the price is more or less the price. I am surprised though that they didn't ask you to pay 5% more because you paid with a credit card; that is pretty normal here. That is probably why they were hesitant to give you a receipt. I always pay cash (real cash, not debit, not cheque) and have always been given receipts. Also, for warranty, they typically put a sticker on each component showing the date of purchase. I would be surprised if yours don't. Interesting to see another Canadian's reaction to the experience in Taiwan.

Yes, because every English speaker in the world who works with technology watches this one Canadian Tech review channel. LTT is widely known, but he isn't movie star recognizable. I would be willing to bet that if you showed his picture to 10 random employees at Intel, Best Buy, Nvdia, Microcenter and NASA you would get less than a 50% recognition at each. You and your circle of associates watch so it feels like everyone does but he isn't THAT popular. a few million views per video out of 1-2 billion english speakers is nothing.

@@Steve-bc2cl eh, that's true for a lot of Asia. I've carried some expensive computers through the streets of Delhi and Mumbai and they were probably at less risk of being stolen than cheaper computers if anything. And let's not forget the stories of the Afghan PS5s. Plus while I have no personal stories there, I've definitely seen a fair bit of expensive PC gear (along with audio/visual gear) be haphazardly carried around in SEA.

Lots of computer accessories are made in Taiwan. We were born with it. In Taiwan constructing computer is never difficult. I DIYed more than 5 PC when I was in Uni. Of course now days gaming PC is more complicated. Linus visited the most famous Tech/Digital mall in Taiwan with long history. Seller there are full of experience and skilled. Honestly they don't have to watch Linus's channel to learn. The mall already has a strong ecosystem.

@@kennethverana5885 It depends. Taiwan manufactures a lot of high end chips. TSMC, the largest foundry in the world, is based there and makes chips for AMD, NVIDIA, Apple, most phone manufacturers, etc. Lower end chips (controllers for example) might come from elsewhere though. Once that is done however, final board assembly (putting the chips on boards and soldering everything) or device assembly might be done elsewhere (like mainland China). For example, Apple's A16 chip is made by TSMC in Taiwan (most likely since they have a few fabs in other countries, including China) but the iPhone is assembled in mainland China and India. Additionally, a number of significant tech companies are also Taiwanese. These include ASUS, Acer, MSI, ASRock, G.Skill, Gigabyte, Lian Li, etc. for consumer oriented companies or Microtek, Realtek and TSMC for the chip designers and manufacturers.
