She was playing a stereotypical powerful woman who = a bitch, and the character was just plain mean - this is not being a ‘Queen’ or remotely empowering for any woman. It simply repeats the stereotype that a strong woman has to be beguiling, sexy, beautiful, well dressed and bitchy. Horrible character, horrible show.

At this point, she hasn't heard of a lot of things. One thing the show got right was showing Alexis' growing pains as she learned just what running a megabillion dollar corporation like ColbyCo was really like. But don't forget - this was at the height of the Reagan years. Government regulation of business was not one of his priorities, and since he was appointing the people in the SEC, FTC, and the Justice Department, it wasn't one of their priorities, either (one holdover from the Carter Administration described the FTC as "a gaunt and bloodied agency" after eight years of neglect).

@phoenixnyc2 жыл бұрын
She doesn't, not really. This is really more to rub Blake's face in it than anything else. When the merger is completed, Denver Carrington will cease to be an independent publicly traded company, and ColbyCo's board will become its board. Usually, some of the senior management and board are folded into the acquiring company, and I'm sure Alexis is banking on most of DC's directors hoping they'll be among the chosen few. Besides which, there's many a slip between the merger agreement and the final signatures, so if Alexis fires the board and the merger still doesn't happen, she'd find herself the majority stockholder in a company with a stock price that took a huge nosedive when the entire previous board was replaced.
