Alexis answers your questions about her study abroad options and tells you her top 3 choices. Where do you think they are? Hopefully she finds out this week or next where she will go!!
If you'd like to support her trip (which is not paid for through the school or scholarships like Kylie's was, but her own money) you can donate to @alexisholladay on Venmo. Thanks!

I had the opportunity to go to Uganda in 2019. To an orphanage. Called Cornerstone Orphanage. They had 700 hundreds of students and 300 orphans who's parents had died. The classrooms had roughly 90 students per class. I was amazed by what they did. I will pray for God's will. May God bless you on every step you take.

Wow, interesting. I didn't know study abroads were that big. I'll have to ask Alexis how many people are accepted to the one she applied for. That's so neat you got to go. What a great experience.

Good luck to you Alexis! I'm sure you'll be greatly appreciated no matter where you go. I watched a video several years ago about a young blind girl who wanted to be a missionary and she was told that that was impossible. She wanted to make a difference in life and felt called to be a missionary. She graduated from school and saved her money to go teach at a blind school with young children and eventually lead a group of blind children with help to climb Mount Everest. They didn't make it all the way and unfortunately some had to turn back but those children as adults praised her for teaching them that anything is possible if you only believe. Most of them went on to have successful business even though they were blind. Alexis you are a beautiful young lady and you have an uplifting personality. I'm sure that you'll do really well no matter where you go and they'll really love and appreciate you. 🙏 Marcie you can be really proud of your children. You've done an outstanding job of raising them.

That is so cool!! I don’t actually know anyone who’s blind but I’ve always been really interested in it, I actually just got a couple of braille books last week so I can try to learn! I’ve previously memorized the alphabet a few times but never got farther than that. Not sure how knowing braille itself, as a sighted person, could actually help me if I do meet someone who’s blind, (I just think it’d be cool to know) but maybe we could at least connect over that :).

@alexisholladay4527 Cool! Glad to hear that. It's kinda like when I was living by myself in the country up on the hill near the woods and the power went out. The phone rang downstairs and I was in a hurry and running down the stairs in the dark thinking that I knew where all the steps were. 🙄 Unfortunately I miss judged in the dark and started falling towards the wall and curled up so I didn't hit my head and then rolled down the other steps. I was really upset that I had fallen. Then I got to thinking how do blind people live alone or take care of themselves? I tried to be more aware of the distance and steps around the house and practiced doing things in the dark or pouring hot water in a cut. We all take things for granted in our lives including our ability to walk, our sight, hearing, taste and feeling. That was a really long time ago when I was in my 20's and I'm 66 now. That video documentary I think was Blind Sight or something like that. I think it should be shared in all churches and homes not only to help remind us not to take our life and health for granted but also to help people see that God can do anything if we truly seek him and trust him with our lives. You should look the video up and watch it. I have to leave right now or I'd look it for you. Better yet when I get back home I'm probably going to try to find it again. It sounds like you have a special calling on your life. God Bless 🙏💖

Alexis, I had a blind girl in my FS100 class at BYU. She was so smart!! I was really impressed. And she had a cool notetaking computer that was tiny that she took around to classes. This was before laptops. So the rest of us were using pencil and paper. It was fun watching her walk around campus with her guide stick. She was always smiling and cheerful. We also had our friend Emily who lived in Little Washington who was born a few days before Thomas. Do you remember playing with her at the playground? I was so impressed that all her siblings always described everything to her and each other so clearly. It was never, "I love that slide!" It was "I love the long, purple slide that curves sharply to the left." It made me want to do better about describing things and using my senses more.

@@alexisholladay4527 I tried to find the original Blind Sight document on KZbin when I got home the other day but only found a couple of short videos. They apparently made a movie about the young lady and friends taking the children up the mountain but I was hoping to find the original documentary video with the original people involved. I'm not sure where else to look. If you happen to find it would you please let me know? I don't have Netflix or Hulu but might consider it if I can watch the documentary or movie. Also I'd encourage anyone to look it up and watch it. It's a very inspiring story.

Alexis......I think Thailand would be beautiful. I watch a few YT channels there and it's amazing! You are so naturally beautiful and talented. Take care of that gorgeous flawless skin you have.....always wear sunscreen! Even when it's cloudy. It's the UV rays that ruin your skin, not the actual sunshine. Can't wait to hear the news! Best wishes and I hope you film your journey! Nancy from OHIO
