the color is amazing. Did you know...they (producer) hired a psychologist for color (or whatever he was called) for the decoration in Dynasty. when you compare the color of Dallas / Falcon Crest / Knots Landing and Dynasty you will see... Dynasty is more colorfull. I love also the other shows but this might be one of the reason I like Dynasty more.

We should find out (maybe in phantom Season 10) that Alexis and Joseph had a drunken one-night stand back in 1961 when Blake was out of town and Joseph was distraught over his wife, Alycia, being held in an asylum. Alexis learns she's pregnant, taunts Joseph with the possibility that she'll tell Blake about the tryst, and she criticizes Joseph's boudoir skills. She then "flies home to Mummie" in London for a while, has her baby, and returns with it to the States, and then presents the infant Kirby to Alycis in the asylum, causing the unstable Alycia to have one final mental breakdown and then jealously kills her lover -- an opportunistic guard who'd been sleeping with many of the patients. By 1982, when a grown Kirby shows up in Denver, Alexis is at first unsure who the girl is, but then schemes to send Kirby back to Paris to break up her incestuous romance with half-brother Adam... And this is the horrid secret that Joseph was willing to kill Alexis for by setting fire to the cabin -- not because Kriby's mom is still alive and under lock-and-key as a murderess, but because her mother is Alexis!! All told in a note from Joseph, meant for Blake and held in escrow by Joseph's attorneys, not to be opened for 7 years after his death.

The thing about this scene, though beautifully dressed, was that it really served no purpose...I mean, Kirby's mother, was brought up from time to time, and I have to wonder as a potential red herring for the identity of who Diahann Carroll's character truly was? I also liked Kirby was coming into her own (the line where she belongs where she chooses to belong), but then did not stay around long enough to try and with Sammi Jo over Adam towards the end of Season 4. Granted it was DYNASTY, it was really a fashion show, but for what I would like to believe up to a certain point (post-Moldavia?) the writers at least cared somewhat about a story and the continuity.

Alexis is unusually class conscious in this scene. She usually makes more coded comments like "You'll go back to Dayton" or "Your tramp of a niece," but here she's very explicit in pulling rank and making Kirby feel like a fraud. Still, that was a really good job offer and this was around the time of 10 francs to a dollar. If Alexis had agreed to pay me in American money, I'd have gone.
