Alex, I am very curious to ask you, how could you compose orchestral pieces without touching notation? I mean how do you write counterpoints, countermelodies, and Divisi by ear without notation? ... I believe orchestral composition is the most hardest classical type of composition that is being taught academically.

Great video, I think it's the best way to follow your ears with what sounds good instead of worrying about rules (if you don't know them, the problem doesn't exist ^^). But I think, if you would take the four bars of your bad melody, repeated and treated it like your one bar good motif, maybe it could also be turned into an appealing melody :). But I get your idea of course. And maybe I'm also already contaminated with contemporary music ^^
@AlexMoukala7 жыл бұрын
Maybe. Although, if you want to nail it right, that's definitely some advanced shit right there haha. Definitely not something I'd advise beginners nor intermediates to mess around with.

Hello Alex In 3:03 I see that you have template for orchestration. Standard orchestra lineup say that 1st violin section have 18 players. How it counts in midi orchestration? Your have only two first violin in your template. So that two violins replace 18 players or? I hope you understand my question. Thanks for tutorial.
@AlexMoukala7 жыл бұрын
I personally don't really precisely count instruments in my virtual orchestrations that way. I tend to keep things evenly balanced like I often mention, but at the same time I don't really stress about realism to those levels as I do love the "unreal" huge sound you can get with libraries.
