Although my favourites from VIII were all calmer songs like Ballamb Garden, Blue Field or Under Her Control. But speaking of Final Fantasy song remakes, I'm my opinion X remake took out some life from some of the songs. Besaid Island the one that got hit the most.

This makes me think about how the remake of "Force Your Way" in the Eden Raid was honestly the most exciting part of Shadowbringers for me, as an FF8 fan. Not too much choir but just enough to really increase the stakes of the music. I also always felt like the very beginning of "Insatiable" was also a bit of a nod to the way "Don't be afraid" begins. So I do think probably a lot of FF8 music would really stand up well today. Could you please react to the music of Octopath Traveler? “Daughter of the Dark God” is a nice final boss track

Someone put this guy in charge of the music for all FF games from now on.

No. He's okay but Nobou and his crew are the best. This guy sounds just like all the "EPIC DRAMATIC BATTLE MUSIC" 'composers' all over KZbin, so generic.

"would it hold up in a remake?" UH YES NEXT QUEST-- oh it's just an excuse for my dude alex to make some ff8 orchestra music, carry on.
@starshapedseal4 жыл бұрын
for real though, this is sick. i love ff8, but i'd honestly settle for a orchestral remix of the entire album. it's got so many songs that have that sense of urgency. the landing always made me feel like AHH WE NEED TO GO even though i knew i wasn't on a timer. oddly enough, it was ifrit's timer at the beginning that i was lazy af with..

Wow I'm so glad I found this channel, I'm glad ff8 has some love out there, it's my favourite in the series. Goosebumps throughout when I heard it all pieced together!

I feel like you may have overdid it a bit in few spots, also there seems to be "noise" in one section, but other than that... absolutely bonkers work. Almost as good as LA HEE xD

@Fantasy Raider Haven't played the game since I don't have a PS4, but from what few I heard, I ain't complaining. Those sound like today versions of their original selves.

Just : WOW ! I love your version of this beautiful music. I wish we can have a remake of FF8 in the future, and after listening your version I'm more impatiente than ever. Thank you, this is brilliant.

No offense, but making songs sound pompous is what makes them not stand the "test of time" eventually. FFVIII's songs are works of art and they are perfectly fine and concise how they are. I can't say I'm a fan of the Square-Enix method of making songs sound more "epic", what that usually means is some parts are almost certain to get drowned out in the noise, the intention behind the original arrangements being obliterated or in some of the worst cases instruments not have any emphasis at all (looking at you, KH1.5). Ever heard of "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec Final Fantasy VIII"? You can tell that whoever arranged that was in close contact with Uematsu, because it is one of the BEST orchestral re-arrangements of a video game soundtrack bar NONE. And I suspect this is for no other reason than being made close to the game's release where the songs' identities, the composer's INTENTIONS were still freshly defined and clear and any doubt regarding each arrangement could be answered in record time. There is absolutely no useless fluff, no added reverb or distraction, only the unadulterated beauty of real instruments working the craft and some very good extensions that almost sound like they were originally intended to be there in the PS1 tracks. That's just how good they are. The more time passes, then the more we (people working on the arrangements, the original composer, our society) stray from the soul of a work which inevitably includes some of the musical tastes of the time, and today the same people might not see it for what it originally was anymore (unless you are the kind of person who takes a big deal in painstakingly defining the overall soul of a work, like myself). Sadly, whoever said music is preserved thanks to notation, is partly mistaken in my opinion. A foreign sounding arrangement can make or break how a piece of music is meant to be portrayed and the feelings it's supposed to evoke.

This is still my favourite work from you, Alex. Pure genius on the highest level. Your version pretty much confirms why this is the single greatest video game composition in the history of game music. I always get the chills listening to it as the climax is so powerful and haunting. The buildups are intense and your version is exactly how it needs to feel like for a remake, hands down.

I really admire your creativeness/talent. Seeing you being able to do stuff this good gives me hope I can finally be able to express myself this well in terms of music so when I finally write music for my stories I won't have to hire someone else to do it, I can just do it myself haha ^^ I hope you get really popular soon because you express something very important a lot of music misses (especially a lot cinematic music I've noticed), that is, it is very important to tell stories with music just as important as it is to tell them words. That is something very few people picked up on, especially in final fantasy music. Also a lot of the passion (in the way you dress like your favourite video game characters like in Yakuza) is important as well. I'm glad you are creating a community that can admire and see the hidden beauty in a lot of music and I hope one day I can do this with the covers I make, or at least contribute to that community. I am still learning how to master/mix audio, I feel I'm a good musician/writer but seeing you and how good you are humbles me and reminds me how hard I have to work to get where I truly want to be.
