Once in a while, a Manufacturer that you don't really like (Cadillac for me) makes a car that is absolutely amazing. The balance of price, power, handling, space, look, and luxury is insane.

it's lighter than a 5 series and CTS while being far larger and far closer to the size of a 7 series and S class, the interior confidently blows away anything from Lincoln, Acura, Infiniti, Buick, and matches a lot of what you find in higher end 5 series products for the same price of a 5 series essentially (while being far larger and giving more features) this is an amazing product well done cadillac.

infiniti q70l is much better because it is more reliable and it has a v8, lexus gs is also a great mid size luxury car.

Thank you for doing this review. I like to think of the Caddie as the largest of the wonderful mid-sized luxury cars; based on spending the same kind of money, the CT6 easily won me over. The twin-turbo V-6 motor pulls well (dual overhead cams, 4 valves, variable timing and direct injection no less), plus the driving dynamics are on point. All the other stuff make it a joy to live with during hard commutes through Hampton Roads/Tidewater Virginia. The real wood is beautiful thing to behold that the leather is awesome to smell and touch. I traded up from my loaded Camaro SS to get better all weather driving (AWD versus rear only) and I love the way both types of cars handle. The Caddie is very engaging and communicative in road feel but super quiet, dampens harshness and vibration superbly, and has massive trunk room compared to most of the other cars I've owned. The biggest thrill is for my back seat buddies. The back rubs, ventilation, and adjustability make for an outstanding experience. By far though, my favorite feature of the car is the 34 speaker Bose audio system. It is exceedingly phenomenal. Rock on...

Really nice review. I remember driving a Jag XJ and thinking what a fun car it was to drive. I think you described it great when you said "athletic". I am so glad to hear this Caddy has a similar athletic feel. I am not looking for a German wanna0be, but I think a car can be Caddy-like and athletic too. That Jag sure was :) I hope one of those new Lincoln Continentals will come down the pike as something you might review. It probobly will not be the athletic car this is, but I am curious how far away it will be. I have a 97 Town Car with 21K miles on it that I keep in the garage, so the new Lincoln is a curiosity to me. I like how you interpret the cars, I trust your thinking so I live the experience thru you lol.

@jamelmoore43568 жыл бұрын
What the CT6 needs to be world-class: 1. V8 option 2. Power EVERYTHING in the interior: headrests, seatbelt adjustment, soft-closing doors, etc 3. More rear headroom 4. Premium materials throughout the WHOLE interior and not just the parts that are obvious 5. Air-ride suspension for a smoother ride 6. Make it longer than it is 7. A better infotainment system 8. A more distinctive look (looks too much like a CTS) 9. More refined transmission Until then, the CT6 is only marginal at best; lot of car for the money, but not as appealing as the competition.
@EscapeToVictoryNow8 жыл бұрын
Jamel Moore is Cadillac brand reliable and does it hold as much brand prestige like the Mercedes and BMW ?
@jamelmoore43568 жыл бұрын
rahul krishna Cadillac has been improving in terms of rebuilding brand prestige and perception. And some of their current products, like the ATS, CTS, and their V variants, can hold their own against the established top-tier luxury brands. Those cars were built to a higher standard and was specifically designed to challenge the German and Japanese luxury sport sedans. But Cadillac is still lagging behind when it comes to appeal and quality. A December 2016 Consumer Reports car brand reliability ranking saw Cadillac ranked at number 24, behind virtually all the top luxury brands, such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus, Porsche; even Lincoln was placed higher. Cadillac has also priced their products to compete more effectively with the German brands. However, because most German luxury brand customers haven't yet accepted Cadillac as a worthy alternative, their sales are suffering. Not to mention the fact that "traditional" Cadillac customers can't afford them, as many of them see Cadillac as a value luxury brand and refuse to pay German luxury brand prices for their cars. The pickup-based Escalade, XT5 SUV, and Buick LaCrosse-based XTS sedan are the only Cadillacs selling at this point. But each of these vehicles appeal mostly to fleet services, and the geriatric and retiree crowd, and not the young, up-and-coming business professionals Cadillac is trying to court. Sorry for the long post. :)
@shethjones44948 жыл бұрын
Jamel Moore people are buying it. sorry to break that news. easily outselling the ls460 and a8. selling at same rate as 7 series
@yoshiakik.53328 жыл бұрын
Actually, you're wrong. the reason why XTS sells is because it's the last "real Cadillac" per say. A large, cushy, no-excuses American sedan. It doesn't pretend to be an S-Class, or 7 Series, it only tries to be what it is, a Cadillac. And to many, that exactly what they want. CTS and ATS are failures, for a simple reason, no one wants a small legroom Cadillac. That platform was a mistake.
@yoshiakik.53328 жыл бұрын
Also, this car is not the flagshap, that will be the job for the eventual CT8. The CT6 is an inbetweener just like the XTS was.

I really love big luxury-performance sedans. I once had a high-mileage 1997 BMW e38 740i, an ordinary base-model; SWB, 16" wheels, no sport options. I knew '80s and '90s BMWs very well, and the e38 7-series was something extra special even in that company. It was just an impeccable driving machine, in every way. It had BMW's early 'Dynamic Stability Control' (DSC), and was the first of these new computer-stabilized cars I'd ever played with, and it was _amazing_. If I turned the DSC _off,_ it acted like a typical BMW with 128k miles on its dampers and suspension bushings; it was still damn good, but not as sharp and well-behaved as it should have been. But when I flicked the DSC _on,_ it became the perfect dance partner; unflappable, utterly competent, always feeling nicely balanced and wonderfully communicative. And it was _absurdly_ quick on seriously twisty, undulating Appalachian mountain roads, which are among the very best sports car roads in the world. Almost as quick as an e34 M5. On equal tires it might have been _as_ quick. All the while, it was utterly serene inside. There was a sweet V8 burble to enjoy, its intensity perfectly judged, otherwise little else intruded. The seats were supremely comfortable, the elegant cabin was beautifully lit in BMW's eye-saving orange motif, the steering and other controls essentially flawless in use. 'Ultimate Driving Machine', indeed! None better, at the time. Cadillac now deserves that title, in the world of four-door sedans, IMO. Cadillac has probably deserved it for some time now, actually. _Cadillac, fer the love of God!_ Well, I'm a convert....

Cadillac has made this very clear that this is not a flagship vehicle, and does not compete with the 7-series and S-Class. It is almost as long, but does not compete in power or price. It is a 6-Series Gran Coupe competitor. It is a tweener, not a flagship
@glendaly63678 жыл бұрын
This isn't their flagship? What is it then? I was certain this was their flagship.
@InvestBetter.8 жыл бұрын
It is Cadillac's de facto flagship, but it is not designed to compete directly with German flagships. It starts at $55k, and with a four-banger. The top model loaded is about $90k, and you can't even get a S550 or 750iL for that. Think Mercedes CLS and BMW 6-Series gran Coupe. It's a flagship, but not a flagship. This model tested is very comparable to the new Mercedes E43 (396 HP) in power and price, but is 10 inches longer. This is a tweener. Between the E-Class and S-Class. I like this over a E43 because it is bigger in the back seat and trunk, and it doesn't look like just another sedan. ALL Mercedes sedans look identical until you stand next to them. This has a pretty special look in person. Has road presence the E-Class lacks. And there aren't many CTS sedans sold, so you won't see this design every day. It comes across as special and premium. The Mercedes does have a better interior designer, however. With 34-speaker Bose, MR Suspension and ventilated seats, a Twin Turbo AWD is $77k MSRP, and Cadillac will sell it to you much closer to $70k, an excellent value.
@charlemagen53568 жыл бұрын
he is right, this is more like a high end long wheel base 5 series or E class while being priced less. though it is very close too the S class and 7 series in terms of size. also it's important to keep in mind the CT6 is what was introduced to kill off the cadillac XTS
@jamelmoore43568 жыл бұрын
Glen Daly The pickup-based Escalade is, theoretically, considered by some to be Cadillac's flagship: it's the largest, most opulent, and most expensive Cadillac you can buy. Then again, if we're looking at pricing, then the CTS-V is the most expensive Cadillac, and is therefore considered their flagship model.

I'm really upset with Cadillac. In 2014 I put $5k down with a $399 monthly payment for 39 months for $60,400 CTS. Now 3 years later they want a $125 more per month for essentially the same car. And they want $680 per month for a $63,595 CT6 with $1,000 down. Are they crazy? Who is responsible for this pricing? Their leader Johan de Nysshen? This pricing is not working. Their 2017 sales are in the tank far below Mercedes, BMW. Cadillac is forcing me to look at other brands. Why not price the cars aggressively and go after market share? That's how you increase sales, great value for the money always wins.
@shellcasing10408 жыл бұрын
It's silly to compare the CT6 to the s-class and the 7-series, especially since it starts with a 2 liter 4-banger, which is unheard of in the German flagships. It would be more appropriate to compare it to the e-class and the 5-series.

This thing is awesome! I would wait for an AWD option though. I would still take this car vs the Germans any day of the week though. Why? Cost of ownership. The cost of ownership for this Cadillac is far lower than the Germans. That and it actually works. The Germans would spend more time in the shop than on the road. Lexus is awesome and all but I still have yet to see a Lexus sedan better than what they put out 15 years ago though. 5 seconds to 60? For a car that big? That is a LET DOWN for some people?

the CT6 is supposed to kill off the XTS once they phase it out, so it's not supposed to be some crazy flag ship model.

Something wrong with the auto-focus on the camera?

After doing due diligence, the new Mercedes E43 is the better choice for me. It does have a smaller back seat and trunk, but it has a much better interior design, superior infotainment and interior graphics, does 0-60 half a second faster with a 9-speed, and is a Mercedes. The price difference is only about $2k. This would be a second choice over a Genesis G90 or Infiniti Q70L

Nissan TitanWarrior superior infotainment? that's debatable
