It's really a shame that due to the 2015 "dieselgate" scandal, US buyers were denied the Bentayga (and Audi SQ7 TDI) that was offered in Europe and a few other markets from 2016 to 2020 with VW Group's incredible 4 liter, twin turbo, triple charged V8 diesel engine, which just might be the finest diesel engine ever put in a passenger vehicle. It was Bentley's first and only model in history with a diesel engine. It produced 429 hp and 664 lb ft of torque, and accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds. And while it's likely no Bentley owner cares about fuel economy, there is a nice party trick and luxury in not having to stop to refuel constantly, which is sort of the case with the gas V8 and W12 engines. Sadly in my view, the diesel Bentayga has now been eliminated globally, regardless.

Is that an “LCD” instrument cluster (as you stated) or an “LED” display? I was thinking most modern cars are using LED displays now but maybe I’m confused?

LCD is the color shifting technology, LED is the backlight technology. This is most likely a normal LED LCD Display like 99% of other displays out there.

Alex was very clear: this and the Rolls as well as the Urus are for the super rich who do not give a damn about maintenance costs or insurance premiums. It's not so much the cost of purchase. It's the humongous depreciation, combined with maintenance and insurance costs that hit you. It's sobering to know that some extremely rich people choose to purchase their vehicles second-hand little-used and of less glamorous brands, e.g., Lexus, even Lincoln… Come to think of it, this is why, perhaps, they're extremely rich still. Musk, I believe, drives a Tesla.

25% is the typical tax depreciation , actual depreciation will vary. The cost structure for jets is far more than depreciation and is going to be much much higher over 5 years than a fleet of Rolls Royces.

Alex: a lot of inconsistencies in your review. I think you switched the grades for Handling and Ride and despite that the Kia Telluride you just reviewed got much better gas mileage you gave it a C- and this car an A. It should have been a D or F. Also, you seem smitten by the price tag. Honestly, it's an ugly vehicle and shows that VW really should give up on thinking it can make a luxury vehicle. Look at the Phaeton. Anyway, not up to your usual objective standards.
