I have found that the aftermarket all weather floor liners that are lazer fitted to the exact car offer much more coverage than the Subaru original equipment liners. Also, the aftermarket ones are less money. I use Husky liners and have always been very happy with them. I just bought a set for my 2022 Subaru Outback and they fit perfectly.

Do you have any experience with the WeatherTech liners? Been in my Forester for almost a full year now in NY State, still with stock liners! I've had the Subaru floor liners on my cars but the Weathertech models are heavier and fit better. They now offer a newer upgraded version. Same with trunk liner that gets discounted when you buy the mats. They also have nice splash guards that are bolt-on with no drilling.

I bought a loaded 2023 Touring XT to pickup this week. I had them add the OEM hitch and starter for $1,000 installed. I was quoted $1,400 from another dealer to do, after the fact. Seeing the trailed hitch was $642 from the factory for a 2024 and $400+ for the remote start, it's actually a good price for them to add it after.

Completely agree with person that recommended door handle cup protector. Don’t have one on my 2015 Outback and that area is pretty scratched up. Afraid that would be very visible on the white finish. My son has a 2022 Crosstrek and he got the door handle cup protectors. I think they look good and will prevent all those scratches
@TheBullseye535372 жыл бұрын
I installed a factory hitch on my 21 outback. You have to remove the rear bumper tube and replace it with the hitch that is much shorter. The outer sections of the bumper have less inner support and it also opens up the rear of the unibody tube for salt to accumulate in. Went with a aftermarket on my 22 wilderness and will live with the not as clean look.

June 2023: I've had my 2024 Outback for a month. We ended up buying a limited XT off the lot. But we were planning to order our car. Trailer package for the '24 from the factory is approximately $750. Uhaul wants over $800, but doesn't have the wiring harness. Dealer installed is over $1100. We added the door hand cup protector. Similar to your logic for adding the tail gate protector, but something that serves it purpose every time we enter the car.

Nicer to get the factory hitch, but you can get an aftermarket for much cheaper. I got mine installed for about $600cad parts and labour. Does not sit low on the vehicle and looks clean.
@jasonjuth1942 жыл бұрын
Which hitch did you get? I assume that they notched out the bumper to maintain the ground clearance
@jarodw91662 жыл бұрын
@@jasonjuth194 It was a 2" Curt hitch. They did notch the underside of the bumper (i.e. you can only see the notch if you get on your hands and knees and look underneath). Ground clearance isn't affected too much as it's only the attachment part of the hitch that is below the bumper.
@james-p2 жыл бұрын
Agreed on getting the hitch right from the start - you won't have to pay labor to have it installed. I also agree on the factory hitch receiver. There are a lot of aftermarket ones, but Subaru's towing capacity and tongue weight (and crash rating) are based on their factory receiver, which bolts directly into the frame rails rather than onto the rear bumper bar. Aftermarket floor mats and suchlike are fine, but with safety items I prefer to stick to factory parts.

I don’t mind that it’s 1 1/4 inch as opposed to 2 inches. Weather tech is what I also got and they’ve worked out nicely. Trying to keep the 16 forester updated a bit lol. I like that the sides are higher providing more protection. Very nice outback, you got some great additions. That pearl white is really nice. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

On my 2017 Outback, I had a company install a very sturdy 2" after market trailer hitch. I know the hitch itself was not even close to $600 and pretty sure the entire cost was much somewhere between 300 and 400 dollars. I find that many of the accessories like the hitch, luggage and storage, ect.. are overpriced from the manufacture or from the dealer. Take the time to research aftermarket equipment and you will find better quality equipment for less. Manufactures and dealers are pushing "Accessories" more and more to make money on the back while appearing to keep the price point down on the front. Subaru advertises its base outback at 28k and premium at 35k. When you walk out of the dealership and take a few accessories, you will likely pay 8 to 10k more. I may actually be a good practice for consumers as they can choose how upgraded they want their vehicle

Hey Alex, doesn't the cargo net have a 2nd net that stretches out to lock down items in the back to stop them moving around? Late to the party and it was probably just changed by Subaru, but the Wilderness trim (at least for '24) does come with the all-weather floor mats by default. So you are turning your Onyx version into a Wilderness one? The all-weather rubber floor lining, mirror approach lights, etc., are all standard on the OBW. For the rear net, get the one that also covers the floor so you can tie down things so thay dont move. As for the mud flaps you installed, besides the look, they won't do much for protection. Either you install the long rally style ones, or none at all - and if you have intense winter where you live, the rigid mudflap tend to accumula more snow-slush and packed it faster than without. And if you try to remove solid-ice hard snow jammed there, you will probably tear down the mudflap with it.

Alex I ordered my 2023 Forester Touring yesterday and you sir have helped me a long so so much! I think you have the best subaru videos on youtube! I was torn between the mud flaps and the splash guards. It seems the mud flaps will offer more protection which was my concern so went with those. I do have a question for you though. The Forester Touring has chrome accents around the car and I am wondering if those are secretly under guards in disguise. When looking at the forester accessories brochure from the subaru website (specifically the dowloadable pdf brochure), the "Front bumper under guard" looks just like the chrome accents on the touring. But in the fine print the front bumper guard says "standard on touring," which makes me think those chrome accents are really the underguards that subaru used to offer on their accessories but now seem to only off the front bumper under guard Also an idea for future videos.... the different warranties you can get from subaru. Cheers mate great video and congratz again on your outback. Thank you for showing to us and showing the invoice. The more transparency between the consumer and the dealer, the better

@@alexpmo thanks so much for the reply Alex! I feel that every single forester touring review I've seen has almost undersold the chrome accents. 99% of ppl think they're just chrome accents but I assure you, no one realizes its bumper under guards which do serve the function of additional protection. How much protection it provides is debatable, but no doubt the chrome accents are more than just cosmetics

ALEX HELP!!!!! - I learned about an issue after I bought a 2024 Outback Limited XT just a week ago. Looking for solution to this: Most Outbacks, like my Limited XT, come with a space-saver tire (T155/80 D17) that has the full-size polyurethane foam floor support above it. If I have to change a flat tire, however, the full-size damaged tire will need to go in that spare tire well, but the full-size polyurethane foam will not fit. If I purchase a full-size tire and, say, a stamped steel wheel for that spare tire well, will the smaller piece of polyurethane foam that comes with the Outback Wilderness (uses a full-size 225/65 R17 tire) fit on top of my replacement 225/60 R18 tire so that the floor board will fit flush? I also understand that when putting a full-size 18” tire in that spare tire well, the hold down bolt is too short to anchor it. How to solve this problem? Thank you for tackling this issue!

Also you should ask the dealer and look for a place where the factory put it through look on a Subaru that has the factory installed trailer plug

Question regarding the StarLink fix you mentioned at the top of the video... You stated there's a part needed for fixing StarLink. Is that an part for the dealer to perform the fix or is it a part to be installed for each vehicle? Rumors out in the wild seemed to indicate it was a software issue that could be fixed with a software update.

The ALL WEATHER floor mats are standard on the Wilderness Trim Level.

Alex why didn’t you get the side moldering covers to protect your doors from door dings just curious?

I almost did but changed my mind at the last minute. I still might add these later

The all weather Subaru floor mats are junk. They came standard on my Wilderness and I immediately replaced them. The Subaru ones barely cover any rug under the drivers pedals (you can see this in Alex's video). Spend a bit extra and go with the Weathertech HP mats instead. These are much nicer than the standard Weathertech mats because they are a bit more pliable and don't have that gaudy Weathertech logo. They fit like a glove, they don't slide around, the cover way more under the drivers pedals and cover the drivers left foot rest as well. The sides go up higher to trap more mud, sand or snow. The back floor mats are actually 1 mat which covers the transmission hump in the centre - a must if you have kids. This is one of the best investments you can make on the inside of your car. So, save your money and forget Subaru all weather mats.

Get an after market Curt hitch instead of the OEM cheaper and seams stronger than OEM. Under $600 installed by my dealer

How did you get your trailer hitch? I ordered mine back in March (2022 outback) and it STILL is backordered. None of the subaru dealers here (Los Angeles area) would let me order a car. I had to pick from a car that was already inbound to the dealers.

Thinking about getting an Outback once my lease is up for my 2021 Forester. I did notice that the Onyx XT trim does not allow for the Harmon Kardon audio option to be added. Is this something that can be rectified with a special order?
@alexpmo2 жыл бұрын
I wish but that’s not available on the onyx trim. You have to go with the limited or touring to get it 😕
