As a German avgeek and average Condor enjoyer, I want to give some more insight. I flew to Gran Canaria on the Canary islands aboard a Condor 753 (D-ABOB, D-ABOH on the return flight). As someone who is 1.95m tall (6.4 ft for all Americans) I really enjoyed their seats... They don't offer any IFE via those audio outputs but the screens show information (altitude, speed etc) throughout the flight. I can also confirm that Condor has some lovely pilots, they make by far the funniest announcements and are quite friendly. By the way, "Wir lieben Fliegen", which was written on the heart 757 does not only translate into "we love to fly" but also into "we love flies", for that reason there is the small insect on the horizontal stabilizer of the plane. I'm glad that you enjoyed the flight just as I did on my trip. Thanks.

@@marcd6897 I'd gladly pick Heathrow T5 or CDG T2 (excluding the 2G gates, of course) over that aging, multi-level maze that is FRA T1. My personal favorite: If you arrive on a Non-Schengen flight, after walking up and down several sets stairs and trotting down corridors that do not seem to end and after finally passing immigration with a comically undersized non-EU passport line and passing thorugh what looks like THE customs channel, you actually leave the secure area and enter the landside arrivals hall. Without collecting your bags. For that, you have to spot and walk down another rather inconspicous looking set of stairs (with a "flight guests only" sign as the only security measure next to it) to finally enter an underground baggage claim area. With an, of course, 2nd customs checkpoint at the far side of it.

I flew with Condor´s 757-300 from Hamburg/ Germany to the Canary Islands and back before the Pandemic - the four-and-a-half-hour-trips were usual standard in comfort for European Carriers - some LCC-Carriers like Ryanair are flying the route with even smaller legrooms. The 757-300 are unique and so were my impressions from that flights, too. Condor had once 15 of it, but are retiring them now piece by piece - 8 of them are still in service at the moment, all of them between 20 and 25 years old. What I´m remembering is how overwhelmed the Spanish Ground Handlers on Gran Canaria obviously were with this large aircraft: They needed nearly two hours to unload the luggage and the return flight departed with a huge delay. Thank you very much for this Trip Report!🙂💛👍

Had to con my way into joining the select few to get qualified and actually work it. As noted, the cabin is endless. Walking from one galley to the other and back to fetch something was a 100 meter walk, so it was great exercise. One unique feature that stood out was the camera in the forward galley, to be used by the lead flight attendant to broadcast themself over all video monitors in the cabin. Awesome stuff.

I worked the 'standard' 757 and the -300. We were the only airline in the UK that had them. JMC became Thomas Cook, and I think eventually, Condor had some of our aircraft as there was some kind of affiliation between the two. Flying the standard pencil was long enough, but on the 300, you walked for miles every day! A skipper said to us on our first flight on it, if you had crew seats at doors 2 on take off and landing just look how much the back galley wobbles around. Same in flight, if it was lumpy, stand in either galley and watch the far end just bounce around! Quite a sight to behold. I have to say though, the 757s were amazing machines to work on and the thrill of hearing those RR RB211s powering us skyward like a homesick angel never got boring! Useless fact - did you know the -300 variant has a skid under the tail to prevent damage? It lowers and raises with the landing gear.

So I rebooked my flight, but since my original flight had not been cancelled yet (it eventually was, so I guess I still made the right call), I had to pay the difference in the fare plus a change fee. The new fare was several times more than the original fare, using the "because we can" system of airline pricing. I got on the 753 and found that I had the whole aft cabin, the last 8 or 9 rows, to myself. Basically, United had used me to cut their losses for this fairly empty flight. Cool.

The 300 in the new Condor "ringelsocke" livery must be a sight to behold! I flew on an Icelandair 757 last year and my ears were not prepared for those engines. The return leg on a Max was like golden silence by comparison.

Mallorca is gorgeous though, shame you couldn’t see more of it!

I made once the mistake of pre-booking row 9F on the Condor 753 DUS-FUE and it was Seefunk. And I am a very regular 180cm. So return flight we booked the door 3 emergency exit seats, which were great. And yes, on longer flights Condor does show a movie. All in all, Condor is a well known name for German tourists and I like to fly with them. During the climb when crossing the East coast of Mallorca, you saw the Cap Formentor, an amazing lighthouse 180m above the cliffs with a long and narrow windy road with awesome views along the coast. If you’re looking for a little break let me know. I work in the travel industry and can assist you to book a German package holiday, including flights you may want to checkboxes like Vueling, EasyJet or even Ryanair (🤓) Sundair is also worthwhile to check out.

I must say I found it "strange" seeing a B757 with winglets. These were a retrofit in the 2000s I believe. I remember flying these planes on main trunk routes out of LHR to GLA EDI CDG AMS with BA where they replaced mainly L1011 Tristars on high-capacity or 4+ hour routes and Tridents on commuter routes. These were all however the shorter 200 variants. They were still an awesome plane to fly on and state of the art for the times. I believe they flew from the early 80s to the millennium. They also served transatlantic routes from BHX and GLA.

Great video..I am reminded of my first 757 flight which was on Continental Airlines(now unfortunately UA) and my introduction to the best scotch around! Thanks and stay safe!

That was a very fun way to experience a 757-300 by the look of it. I've been fortunate to fly on a American Airlines 757-200 from PHX to LAX in 2017 (now retired), but haven't flown on -300.

Alex, Icelandair serves Vancouver and Seattle and they fly the 757-200s. Also, check Delta and United schedules out of their Hubs and you might find a 757 between one of the hubs.

It's such a dorky looking plane. I love it.

I’ll be excited to finally add the -300 with Delta later this summer having flown on the -200. United also having the RB211’s, my cousin Swayne Martin says the -300 is more sluggish to fly and award un crosswinds than the -200’s, both of which are surprisingly heavier on the controls stay in the 767’s.

I've flown on the 757 many times to/from Cabo Verde with TACV in the 2000s and early 2010s. Such an amazing aircraft and as you said, those RB211s are just mesmerizing! I hope to fly on one again in the future before they're all gone.

I have flown on a few 300s with Delta. I will miss the 757 - loved the power. Mostly flew the 200 from SLC to DCA - one of the few long flights into and out of DCA. Great video.
