Taeyeon comes from the golden age of kpop when everybody had to sing live on stage at least 4-5 times a week to promote their songs, and she was the best of them. Taeyeon's stamina and resonance is unmatched. And she is one of few idols who made people finally take idol-singers seriously as singers; which made her group's trajectory even more impactful considering, at the time, girl groups weren't a thing, to the point that boy group fans hated them and even boycotted their performance in protest when they debuted.

About her song 'Happy', it was supposed to be a special release single for her birthday in March 9th, 2020 but her dad suddenly passed away that same day... so what was supposed to be a happy song turned into a song that was specially hard and heavy to listen to (at least for me). Her dad supported her ever since she was a trainee, they lived in a province so her dad had to take her to SM in Seoul, and back home so I knew how hard losing her dad was for her.

FYI! Taeyeon is a multi-awarded Vocal Queen and OST Queen. She is the role model of all girl groups and female solo singers, and considering some male singers/groups now. Her group, Girls' Generation (originally, 9 members, but 8 members now), is the textbook of girl groups, where they were known and given the title by their own country as the 'Nation's Girl Group' due to their versatility, concepts, and lines of members which consist of dance/rap line, vocal line, actress line, and even different language speakers. Her group debuted in 2007 while she debuted in 2015 and in some sub-unit groups onwards. She and her group are treated like royalties. Also, a few songs she performed here are "hidden" masterpieces from her albums, because most of her songs were actually recognized masterpieces. Lastly, the last song she performed is the highly requested and dying-ly anticipated song that international fans wants her to perform live. She never performed it, not until in Killing Voice.

I'm happy that more people got to know Taeyeon but at the same sad when I watch these reaction vids realising not many people know her vocal ability or know her at all, she always been good since her girl generation days (yes better than 3rd,4th,5th gen main vocalists mind you) now obviously even better bc she can focus her time more on vocal less on dance choreo

King Taeyeon 👑 She's like a K-pop God. She sounds wayyyyyy better live btw. Her live performances of All Night Long, Fine, Into The Unknown are my favourites. But, in her solo work she sticks to her comfort zone, focusing more on the music and message. Her craziest high notes are part of the Girls' Generation discography. Her voice is emotional yet insanely powerful. When she debuted back in 2007, a critic described her as having the voice of a woman who has been divorced 7 times. So, she's always had this incredible voice and she's just getting better each day.

The "real instrument" vibe is something Taeyeon does a lot with the thought it will be even better when she has a concert. All her concerts have the live band and she sounds even better live. Please check out her new song "Letter to Myself" it is pop rock. Or she released a live version of "Blur" from that album with some crazy high notes. It is great to see she continues to improve her singing abilities even though she is in her 17th year as a professional singer.

Girl's generation was at the height of their career when I was a kid and I had the honour of being a young girl and discovering their music. They genuinely impacted me so well because ALL of them are so talented and they took over the industry because of their raw talent. KPOP nowadays doesn't feel the same because this used to be the standard. Taeyeon is incredible and there's a reason she's so highly praised.

The first song in this set is her official solo debut, 'I", which she also wrote. There's a saying in K-Pop which is "listen, and trust in Taeyeon"--her song choices are just impeccable. In concerts she has a live band who are excellent. FYI, Taeyeon is the leader of the girlband GIRLS GENERATION/ SNSD she debuted with SNSD in 2007 and she is also part of the sub unit TTS (TaeTiSeo) with other SNSD members. Now she is active as a female solo singer in SM. He also joined the sub-unit GOT THE BEAT with BoA (senior female soloist), Hyoyeon (SNSD), Wendy, Seulgi (Red Velvet) and Karina, Winter (aespa) who are fellow artists under the auspices of SM ENTERTAINMENT. And she is a female solo singer with strong vocals and has very good abilities and lives the songs very very deeply.
