Gundula is an angel sent from heaven. This aria showcases her best qualities, and her interpretation is heartfelt...

I must say again: Brava ! Sensational ! Beautiful golden tone and precise technique without scooping to high notes or heavy vibrato. Some European conductors stated that Gundula Janowitz was their "soprano of choice." I agree. An opera director told me, "There has been no one like her since."

Hearing her sing always takes me to a higher level of consciousness. I'm getting weepy just listening to this. Sadly, I don't think she would have been as successful in this internet/social media culture where taking the time to experience deeply isn't nurtured.

Ascoltarla come Agathe è straordinario e commovente. Una voce alta toccante, emozionante; tecnica cristallina, potenza e dolcezza.

:o) Vielen Dank fuer diese wundervolle 'rendition' ~ and Hello from Canada!

I love this, but I have to laugh at her breath at 1:39 in the middle of the word "schöne"! It's a super long phrase, and I can imagine that she was probably nervous (even though she doesn't show it in the least) and was probably annoyed at having to breathe there.

Of course she breathes - It sounds like she is singing wie schön (breath) die Nacht,Weber wrote "welch schöne Nacht" to be sung in one phrase

It's not in the middle of the word though, it's right after and before the new one.

@@Yves_Ka Weber wrote "Welch schöne Nacht!", and the phrase is too be sung in one breath.
@karenbaumgartel60773 жыл бұрын
@@janefaceinthewind6260 she takes her breath right before the "e" of the word "schöne", thus breathing in the middle of the word. I had not meant to criticize her - this is a world class singer. I was simply making an observation. This was live, the real thing. Nowadays it probably would have been fixed. It's not a huge deal, probably most wouldn't notice unless they'd learned and sung it themselves.

Bitte...
