@@AlexTheCarDoctor ive been with toyota for 9 years and with midas 1 year. I see how honest you are and it really makes me happy to see that there are still honest mechanics out there. The places I worked at, they wanted me to upsell services when the customer didn't need it also they weren't even taking care of there workers so after a while I became a little bitter and unmotivated in this field and I know how I am, I work really hard but with how im feeling I feel like it will effect my work in the future and that wouldn't be fair to the customer that's why I've been contemplating on leaving the field.

i hate losing sockets. thats why i have multiple sets of sockets and extra sockets and wrenches in the most used sizes. sure, its a bit expensive to keep a little inventory of extra tools but its cheaper than wasting time. pawn shops and ebay are an excellent source of good, name brand, usa made tools at less than retail. yes, i know the tools dont make the mechanic but higher end tools make the job more enjoyable in my experience.

Used engines can be a real drag. Imagine if some diy person bought that engine not knowing the issues and installed it. Unless it is a low mileage engine, at least get a short block or even better, a long block that has been rebuilt. You will be much happier in the end. You did enough being your day off, time to relax.

Engine question - I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 With the 4.0L This truck is rust free and i really want to build it into a daily driver, well a more reliable daily. It has 194k Miles and although no issues yet my question is this. I want this truck to be reliable enough to drive anywhere. maine to florida etc. I really thinking new engine. Do i do a rebuild? A new crate? A remanufacture? What would you recommend ?? And do i replace with the same 4,0L or is there a better easy upgrade? I appreciate your advice
