WOW. I love this engines sound!!!. When I was stationed with NATO HQ AFCENT, later RHQ AFNORTH in Brunssum / Netherlands.... I liked it to stand at the Geilenkirchen fence to the "Runways" and watched the AWACS coming down, about 30 meters above my head and the smell of "Kerosin".... This made my day... Oh, I loved this time!!!

Mooi Alex, al geloof ik niet dat dit een Alpha Scramble was. In dat geval laten ze de kisten niet wachten op de ORP maar gaan ze meteen take-off. Ik denk dat het gewoon een Tango scramble was......(dus training). Maar het blijft een mooi filmpje!!

Dta klopt helemaal. Toch vloog deze er nog vrolijk mee rond. Geloof dat op dezelfde F-16 aan de andere kant nog zelfs een 315 sqn badge staat.

That any aircraft REQUIRES an afterburner boost to take off seems inefficient. It is also a performance liability, as now air refueling is needed shortly after getting airborne.

Mwah, It is not so inefficient as you say. These aircraft are from the 80s and for that generation it is normal. The F-35 which is now introduced here can do it without afterburner 😎
