For as messy as Gotham Knights’ story is, I see it as a case of missed potential. A tale of Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin working together to fill the shoes left behind after the death of Batman seems like a great story for a game or movie. Yeah it definitely could have worked especially with the court of owls. But the messy execution of the game in just about everyway is the problem. Timing I think was also a problem. A few years after Batman seems to die in Arkham Knight, they release a game with Batman dead and you play as a bunch of the Bat Family that appeared in those games wit combat that appeared to be based on the same combat system. How could they expect people to not draw comparisons.

Just wanted to say, idk why people have an issue with Jason's rounds being less lethal for THIS iteration. If anything I don't know why people wouldn't expect this. This is a Jason Todd who (idk if it's like this in the comics but) is quite close to the bat family and actively talking to Bruce. Did everyone think he'd just be blasting people again while Dick, Barbara & Tim are still sacred about the no killing rule? Besides you can still at least use guns, and not like tranq darts or something so it's a reasonable compromise.

Respectfully I disagree with Arkham Origins being mid. Even though that is your opinion respectfully, I still say the game had some of the best boss fights of the whole series and had possibly the best story out of the series, too, I do agree the game isn't perfect and the gameplay could've been improved, but nevertheless, I think it's still one of the most underrated Batman games and deserves more praise as a great prequel game if you ask me

All the boss fights from origins suck. combat is worse than CIty and the gloves make it piss easy. The entire world is a copy paste of Arkham city. Deathstroke is a glorified cutscene, literally press counter to win Firefly: throw batarangs, dodge the exact same attacks, throw glue bomb, and batclaw repeat this 2 more times and you beat him. Boring gameplay Bane: literally just keep jumping over him until he gets tired. I don't understand how anyone can say these are good boss fights Origins is a 5/10, maybe 6 if I'm being generous. Everything this game does Arkham City does better Its not underrated in the slightest I have no idea why Arkham fans are so weirdly protective of this game

The relationship with Alfred was great, the crime scene investigation is insanely cool and makes you feel like the worlds greatest detective. It gave some lesser known villains the spotlight and I think its the only game that made an accurate Bane so far. It gave lesser known villains the spotlight and even though he was a bit repetitive, the joker was also great. Its not perfect but not as bad as people make ot out to be.

Gotham Knights combat is just so fun. I’m 1000 hrs in and I’m still discovering more things I can do. I’ve also never experienced any bugs. My experience with GK is fantastic. I give it a 9.5 out of ten. I love watching people play the combat wrong and complain about it 😂

WB Games seemingly fumbled the ball with their big franchise games these last few years. Gotham Knights was given too little time to finish the game after they pivoted away from Live service leaving it basically like 70 to 80 percent complete and since it wasnt a Live service game they took the larger portion of the dev team away almost immediately after the game was released leaving a skeleton crew to basically just release a monthly patch for like 4 months before abandoning it entirely. Suicide Squad was forced into being a Live Service game and because of that they got priority allowing them to delay the game even more to make sure it was a more complete product before release but the Story and Live Service model left a sour taste it fans mouths, then Hogwarts legacy their most successful game in recent years. Ended up barely getting any post-launch support. No major story DLCs and with no offical Sequel announced. A skeleton crew has been performing the updates to that game for months with the only "New" Content being new customization options and releasing Side Quests on all platforms and all Houses that used to be locked to PlayStation or locked to a specific house you chose in the game. Simply put WB games had an opportunity to potentially have a great couple of years for games but due to Corporate interference they fumbled their chances at a great lineup

I think the timing of the game was wrong… but there IS some legitimate criticism on the other side. Though anything that is anything (even an absolute masterpiece) can be criticised so only those who have actually played the game can say anything. Honestly, I enjoyed Gotham Knights. Yes, it had its issues, mainly the introduction of the Court of Owls in the story. But I disagree with the bad combat system statement. The combat is great and while it's not as smooth as in the Arkham series, it's more engaging, less button mashy and if you master it, it IS pretty smooth and good looking.

What I find interesting and kind of scummy is that WB Montreal didn't say Gotham Knights was connected to the Arkham games at first, but they didn't exactly say it wasn't. They definitely used the rumors and hype to their advantage, or disadvantage as the case may be.

It’s a mixed bag. I really loved it, others do, some really hate it. It’s one of those games where you can’t really rely on reviews because you may have completely different opinions on it. I only saw bad GK reviews before playing it, but like I said I had a blast.

Worse than Suicide Squad? Because at least Gotham Knights isn’t just a looter shooter with a cheap DC skin over it. It’s actually a really good Batfamily game, it just doesn’t touch the Arkham masterpieces.

Arkham masterpieces😂 every arkham game upon release were very mixed until years after each had been out, with origins and knight being the most disliked out of the lot for its story and gameplay aspects, you'd know that if you were actually an active player of the series and not just some blind sheep hoping on a dumb hate circlejerk 😂

And I still stand on Arkham Knight being the weakest Arkham game but that’s not exactly a huge insult given that metric. Arkham City is only third for me personally but it is absolutely still a masterpiece as far as the superhero game genre is concerned for one, it stands well above most of the rest. And it was also always heralded as such. I wasn’t aware of Asylum’s reception at the time, but it was always a game I loved and praised personally. Also, what hate circlejerk? I literally just praised Gotham Knights, I vocally consider it overhated. All I said was it doesn’t touch the Arkham games, which is fine, it doesn’t need to. I can admit it isn’t as good as something else without hating it or thinking it’s bad. Masterpiece and bad are not the only two qualities, believe it or not. As for Suicide Squad, it is legitimately just a looter shooter in DC clothes when it could have been so much more. That’s not a hate circlejerk, that’s an astute observation. You presume far too much. You know what they say, when you assume you make an ass out of u & me.

Tbh I'd still take this game over Suicide Squad KTJL most of the time. I'll always love the dynamic between the Bat Family and y'know, giving Batman an honestly worthy death. I just wish the game could've had even more time in the oven, no gear or leveling system, and all the costumes were mere unlockables rather than making them an ugly grind. (Honestly if it was from the beginning written with the Arkhamverse in mind, it could've probably reached a better result, and by extension could've served as a nice bridge to Suicide Squad with Batman instead of being dead, merely in hiding for the time being as the bat family is handling Gotham in the fresh weeks of his absence. With the Court of Owls seeing this as a chance to take Gotham like in the final game now that Batman is gone.)
