Alf thinks it's ok to watch ITV without a licence as it's paid for by commercials, he then gets a visit from a goon who warns him unless he has a licence it's a either a year inside or £50 fine.

The Law states you only have to pay a licence fee if you watch live TV broadcasts(any channel)or IPlayer, If they send you letters either rip them up or better still write return to sender and pop them into a letter box(they hate that lol). If they turn up on your door step, say "No thank you" and shut the door in their face or better still don't open it at all, but that's hard because you don't know who they are until you open the door. Remember these people are not BBC employee's they work for a firm called Capita on a self employed basis and get paid on your conviction(£20) or they will even try to sell you a licence for which they also get a £20 commission.They have no rights and can only enter your property if you let them in, and why would you let a cold calling salesman(which is what they are) into your house/flat. They also need you to sign a form(which is a statement of confession) to get a conviction. There are lots of details on you tube about TV licence Goons trying all sorts of dodgy practices to con you. There is even one of a guy who says yes i'm watching telly, now bugger off, and he slams the door in his face. Maybe that's going a bit too far because he might then get the police involved, but even so its his word against the Goons and even if the Goon does get the police in, and they obtains a magistrates warrant, as long as you don't have the telly actually on they are stuffed. The BBC are used for propaganda purposes and also harbored pedo's for many decades not just years, do you really want to support that, just to watch the occasional wildlife program(some of them are good i agree). They want you to think that a TV license is compulsory, Well its not and i refuse to support what the BBC has become. If its so good then it should do what other companies do and make it subscription based but of course we know its not that good anymore so they wont do that unless they have no choice. DON'T BE TIMID you don't need to watch live TV. Don't support an organisation that nurtures Pedo's and bombards us with propaganda, JUST SAY NO.
@Mistersandyrobertson6 жыл бұрын
Ray Tillman Agreed - but not about the bit where you say if they come in and the tv isn't actually on they can't touch you. Not true - if the tv has an aerial connected that's likely to get the sods a conviction. And the bit at the end of the vid is wrong of course as you can now get done for watching catchup.

So timely when the BBC has just scrapped free TV licenses for the over 75s! Back then you had to have a license if you OWNED a TV. However in 2016 the law was changed such that now if you watch live TV or record it on any device, as it is broadcast, any channel or watch BBC i-player then you need a TV license. But you can watch YT, Amazon Prime, Netflix, On-Demand services such as C4 and ITV hub without the need for a license and of course your own DVD box sets and videos if you still have such old tech. And you don't have to let them in either unless they have a warrant.
