I have two Stelvio’s - a Quadrifoglio & a Ti Sport Lusso. Exceptional vehicles. Never an issue. Both are music to a petrol heads’s ears and senses. I stare at the cars & can’t wait to get in and drive either one. Great daily drivers too, but with personality. My QV hits 60 mph in 3.6 & the Lusso in 5.0 flat, since breaking them in. Thank you Anna! You always make whatever you drive seem sexier! I have a Giulia Q2 TI Sport , with Squadra Tune, Super Sprint Race Exhaust and added Race Mode from the QV. The tune improves drivability and gives 320 hp, 0-100 kph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 268.7 mph. You really need to drive a tuned Giulia or Stelvio from Squadra Tune or Ferraris. They will really impress you and they sound so good.

Stelvio's price, size, space and practicality is similar to its SUV competitors in the D segment like the X3, Q5, GLC, XC60, etc. The difference is that the other SUV in this category don't look and drive the way this one does. Even the Macan is built over the VW MLB platform (same of the Audi Q5 or VW Tiguan). The Stelvio is built over the Giorgio platform (same as the Giulia) with 50%/50% weight distribution with the engine mounted behind the front axle. That's the main reason it rides so well and balanced. Other reasons include the excellent patented aluminum suspension, aluminum engine, aluminum body and other lightweight options like the carbon transmission shaft or the light and compact single clutch ZF8HP gearbox and last but not least, the extremely direct steering. If you need a bit more space and prefer to avoid some of the Stelvio shortcomings, try out the bigger Maserati Grecale built over this very same platform ...but because it's bigger and heavier, I doubt it would be as nimble as the Stelvio ...then again, it brings a bit more power to compensate.

WoW 2 videos in 1 weekend, What a great surprise. Absolutely brilliant review and never a dull moment. It looks like you are so excited and super happy with this marriage ;-). Stelvio looks great and a nice size and the interior looks gorgeous. There might have been, but I'm not aware of any changes in the gearbox mapping, it's the same ZF8HP nor in the suspension. Only a small change in the Ackermann steering geometry. The significant changes were on the interior finishing quality, ride noise, infotainment.

Keep in mind, there are only so many dealerships in any given area, (mostly in urban areas) that will service this vehicle.

@@2bunphettered788 Well, it depends of course on what each of us find interesting in a car starting for the way it looks. The Stelvio is built over the Giorgio platform. A platform designed (by Ferrari engineers) with performance in mind (to re-launch Alfa Romeo brand with the Giulia Quadrifoglio). It was built for RWD setups and perfect weight distribution. The Stelvio inherits this platform from the Giulia and it shows in the way it drives. For instance, all engines sit behind the front axle. Be it the Diesel, the 2.0 in line 4 or the 2.9 V6. It features an Ackermann steering for better traction in corners and it's one of the most direct steering you'll find in the market. For instance, the steering ratio is higher than on an 911. A lot of attention was also given on light weight solutions. There's lot's of aluminum in the body, patented aluminum suspension, aluminum engine it even features a carbon fiber driveshaft. The ZF gearbox was also chosen not because it's quick, but because it's light and compact compared to other solutions, especially those with dual clutch. I've driven a lot of cars in my life and the Stelvio drives better than most and I'm not talking just about SUVs. At the same time it offers really top quality interiors with real high quality leather. Despite the clear dynamic nature of this car, the ride quality (at least on the models with active suspension) can be smother than a Q5 or a X3 and it offers a very smooth and quiet ride for everyday use. You should test drive one if you appreciate the pleasure of driving beyond the usefulness of going from A to B.

In the UK they've stopped doing the Mocha interior, only black now. The only packs available are the driver assistance and the HK sound system with leather dash. Cant get yellow callipers either.

Brakes are the same fly-by-wire from the German company Continental. The pedal feeling is different, but it's quite easy to adapt, because in the end, the car brakes exceptionally well with the two piston Brembo brakes in the front, single on the back.

Who would have thought say 10 years ago that an Alfa Romeo SUV be so popular and what is even more surprising is that Ferrari are also going to sell an SUV (I've read that it is going to be powered by a V12 engine) even though a few years ago they said they would not ever do such a thing. See what happened with Porsche: They decided to start selling SUVs, and now, more than half of their sales are from VW platforms and VW/Audi engines assembled by Porsche, namely: Macan and Cayenne. You say that the gearbox is fast. Well, at 7:00 I see that you click it at least 3 times and I'm waiting and waiting and after some long time it remembers: ooooo, you want 3-4 gears lower. :| It's a BIG mistake that Alfa doesn't put a manual for all the engines or at least have a dual clutch instead of torque converter. 9:25 - System is quick? :)) I see a lot of lag starting from 9:08! My phone is way faster than that! 10:17 - Commercial starts here. I think people should move from FB and let it colapse because of their stupid and censoring policy ;) No need for VPN. Just use another platform!

The ZF8HP is the best single clutch gearbox in the market and can be even faster than some dualclutch without all the extra weight and extra space needed for a dualclutch gearbox. If you try this gearbox, especially in Dynamic mode, you'll see it's very quick. When we enter the 1/10 of a second realm, I'll say it's quick enough. Anyway, way much faster than any manual gearbox. Also, if you floor the gas pedal while in 'auto' it's not only the lag, it's mostly the car realizing you suddenly want to go faster and have to decide how many gears you need to go down. In manual mode, the turbo lag can be felt below the 2500rpm whenever you want to go from 'normal' to full blast'. If you're already in a dynamic driving, turbo lag is basically non-existent.

...and the infotainment is weaker than many of the competitors offerings. ...but it has a very fast response if you use the central dial. If you use the touch screen, then yes, it lags...

Yes you right. Actually not artificial but original sound of engine is pumped into the cabin. Under the bonnet is microphone and the sound of engine is transmitted by the audio system. It’s quite loud into Dynamic mode.
