Hello Alfabusa screaming. Thank you for your patience and, once more, thank you for giving us a shot with this brand new venture. Also, thank you immensely for giving me (Alfabusa, singular) the opportunity to multiply and become more than just a single sumpwretch, but a TEAM (or Alfabusa, plural). Alfabusa is no longer but one. We are many. You have wrought this. Also! This episode contains an attempt to help ease those unfamiliar with this setting into proceedings, but... we're unsure how well it comes across. There are a lot of lore-terms used here and there throughout this video, generally marked in _italics_ in the subtitles, and they aren't neccesarily elaborated upon all that much. We have plans to take many of these concepts on more thoroughly, but, if you would feel so inclined, there are ways to get a better understanding of what the fuck is even being talked about from the get-go. Speaker did leave a list of neat titles in the pinned comment of the last episode but I will now come back and INSIST that you SHOULD play Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines if you haven't. If you can get past the incredible early 2000s jank and some of the more painful parts of the main story (vozhd sewer hell), you're in for one of the best RPGs of all time, no doubt in my mind, its on Steam, go play, just make sure you install the Unofficial Fan Patch to make it actually playable, I swear, its worth it, come back here and report when you have, you can't get a better introduction to a setting, god I love LaCroix I want to stab him. No matter if you get involved or would rather just observe the spectacle from afar though, we really, really hope you enjoy. Thank you again.

To be fair, neither Kitten nor Door thought it unwise -- in fact by the end it was Door who was more into it. Also in this case it's less Big D didn't tell them and more he thought it was common sense. Kitten's obviously been doing some reading on Vampires and Marckus mentions getting kicked out of the Arcanum -- meaning he'd have to have been in it at one point, so enough to know the basics about Vampires. It was more of a genuine misunderstanding than the Warhammer 40k thing methinks.

It's funny that Pyotr essentially has the political beliefs of the Sabbat, but has this sort of strange cognitive dissonance where he is still attached to humanity in general, if not necessarily his humanity. He flirts with Kitten, offers the Gang the Embrace, immediately assumes that 'special interview' is colloquial for 'fucking', then backpedals and refers to that as 'bestiality', it's fascinating to see that he still has tethers, despite the fact that he refers to mortals as 'meat'. He also riffs on Ape for 'LARPing' when spouting his pack priest rhetoric, and despite being so against the Camarillas, he seems to be oddly spiritual in his practices, referring to the Vinculum, the Vaulderie, vampires as Cainites and 'The Prince'. In a way it's as if he's still trying to justify his own actions and existence. Hating The Masquerade despite also practicing his own version of it that aligns with his own ideologies. Then he diablerises his two pack mates lmao.

It was likely done out of hate for what they represented, as well as how they cemented what his new life as kindred is. Bikerbread prattled on about his previous life, thus still has visible regrets. Apeboy parrots whatever dogma he hears to make himself seem more "monstrous" while still being a joke even amongst his pack. They were both coping with the fate handed to them and assuming they lived in that cave and had no back up or support, it's safe to say they're either outcasts or the lowest on the latter. Think for a minute where you have given up everything, even something as simple as enjoying food for something that was likely forced upon you. You can't see the sun, have to prey on others to stay alive, and the whole world, human and otherwise, want you dead simply for being what you are now. Then you get saddled with abject poverty, rejected by the few people who could accept you and have to share a space with people you find insufferable because they are the best you can do. Then think about how these three people remind you everyday of what you lost and what you are. You're scared, hungry, depressed and cursed to die despite being immortal and these screw up keep complaining and fighting. Then one day, when you finally lose even the little bit you have and your dream which had kept you going in this hell is threatened, you finally snap. But not only do you snap, you do it after the one person you might have tried to make a friend out of, possibly even a brother of sorts, is the first to betray the pack. That is the clearest sign that everything is burned and the small bit of grounding you have is gone, so may as well let all the fury and repressed rage out and get far stronger for it. Though I honestly think Pytor WOULD have spared Apeboy if he hadn't targeted him as well. He's a cold hearted bastard with good reasons for it, but I doubt he'd want to be totally alone in such a hostile world unless there was nothing left to salvage. You know, I honestly think Pytor might actually try to turn boy or kitten, maybe even Markus since having underlings can be very useful and he'd get a "family" of sorts. Does that sound plausible or am I reaching?

@@bholda8057 This was also his chance to gain some of the freedom that had been preached upon him, likely since his turning. Aside from letting any closeted animosity to the surface, he also got a chance to be the apex predator he'd always been told he now was. His beliefs can be reinforced, instead of simply repeated. I don't think it's just a venting of pent up emotion, it's also an affirmation of his whole existence. It's a chance to bring in new cainites, who unlike Bikerbro and Larper, can get shit done. Or at least feed on them. Certainly sounds more interesting than sitting in a cave for centuries, listening to the only two people in your life go at each other about stuff they'll never be strong or smart enough to do. If nothing else, after having diablerised BB and Ape, he'll have some interesting prey to toy with. This all assuming the credits aren't what will come to pass, and that another stronger vampire won't just come snuff him (and everyone else) out. If the Camarilla gained knowledge of the interrogations, it'd be more than enough to warrant a bloodhunt.

Heck it might be that it's what Big D sees in his worst nightmares, assuming he has knowledge of "The Prince". But I actually like Big D as a character more then Big E since you have no clue who he is or even what he is. He said he can not be mentally overpower by a werewolf's panic ability when they transform and outright said he could handle Kevin pretty well despite his capture(however it may have been a ploy by Big D to drug Kevin rather then stake him due to the magic he uses). It be kind of plausible if Big D actually had plans in place for such an eventuality since he's likely faced a super vampire before. Although with that in mind I'm curious if it won't be the other two souls inside pytor's mind that screw him over instead of the hunters. A real, "divided from within" thing, since they might be able to fight for control.

@@bholda8057 If either of their wills is strong enough, among other things. I wonder about the age of each of them. Pyotr seemingly hadn't fed in a looong time, whereas BB and Ape seemed "fresher". That could simply be that they fed in the forest without sharing, or that Pyotr simply let them have most of the "food". Could be that the other two were so visibly not at peace with their existence because they hadn't been kindred for very long. Comparatively speaking anyway. Aside from being generally ghastly, Pyotr kind of looks old to me. Not aged, so much as just old. He's calmer, generally more mature than either of his cohorts. But he still appears (as you mentioned) to have some resentment of his current state. He might have just had more time to cope, but that meager sliver of humanity persisted in his psyche. An age difference (before and after his turning) could also partly explain why he talks in modern vernacular but still refers to vampires and related affairs by the traditional vernacular. His shtick seems to be invisibility (blending in, generally) despite his alignment to the Sabat. While I mentioned his somewhat desiccated state being a possible effect of starvation, it may be that he only feeds enough for sustenance and for information gathering (hence his seemingly mixed mannerisms). Going by this train of thought, he'd have hunted and fed recently enough to learn some things about our time. But I'd guess BB and Ape were the gluttons of the pack. I don't know much about VTM lore, but I've also heard mention of him being a Nosfaratu. Not sure how much that would have to do with it. All in all, I like how much room for supposition is left with him. Lack of information can be as interesting as an abundance of it. More so, at times.

Though I think that's partly because Big D is what Big E would have been like if he wasn't literally-everything-o-plegic. And given the whole thing with death hexes and stuff, it does stand to reason that the DMT was a safeguard, in case things got hairy enough for him to be fed upon. Now that you've mentioned it though, a little backstory for Big D would be cool (though I'm kind of fine either way). I just mean he'd still be a fun character without any exposition :^P

Man, everyone's gushing about Pyotr, but this chapter really made me see Shitbeard in a whole different light. In episode 1 you just see him as he is in battle, this huge, hulked-out biker asshole literally named _Shitbeard,_ with maybe a hint of a well-spoken stickler-for-tradition beneath the rage. In this ep, though, we get a glimpse into his personality, worldview, and past- when he was Embraced, he was attending college, something he likely missed out on when he was younger, and must have been very passionate about to enroll in at his own middle age. He's American, meaning he likely moved to England for his education- hell, maybe he even attended Oxford. He cites being compelled by the Categorical Imperative, meaning he has at least a passing knowledge of Kantian ethics, likely learned in his studies, and was honest enough to hold himself to such an ideal. He misses the taste of cream crackers. One might wonder how he was Embraced. If he indeed chose the path of the Kindred, it seems like something he deeply regrets. Given he was in the middle of such a big commitment as an education in a foreign country- that he seemed to take to, given his interest in Kant- it seems far more likely that Shitbeard was turned against his will, and, forever divorced from Humanist philosophy, latched onto the rigid hierarchy of the vampire clans and supremacy in order to ground himself. Really, he seems like a tragic figure. One day he decides to go to college, recieve the education he missed out on as a rough-and-tumble youth, the next he's stuck, an undead monster an ocean away from home, his education forever unfinished, a horrible hunger and rage he can't control, bound by blood and circumstance to a group of egomaniacal assholes who nickname him _Shitbeard_ of all things, and who, ultimately, betray him at his lowest. Brought to a haunting end that no man or monster truly deserves. And then, right at the very end, there he is again with that post-credits patreon plug, likely for the final time. Finally, he's free of the rage and malice, drawn in an almost cutesy style. This could be what he was like before his Embrace, before he became Shitbeard- a big, friendly old man, who's excited and passionate about higher learning. Rest in peace, Shitbeard. May you feast on cream crackers far into eternity. EDIT: Yes I know diablerie destroys the soul, nobody gives a shit, you can stop replying now.

To add to this tragedy of Shitbeard. Given that Shitbeard is running with the Sabbat it is possible that his forcibly embrace is just one of the many mass embrace the Sabbat are infamous in conducting. To the Sabbat kindred, Shitbeard is just cannon fodder for their many battles barely enough to acknowledge as an individual thus his degrading name. Shitbeard must have survived the many suicide missions to become a full member of the Sabbat but that does not change the minds of the kindred that he is an individual worth respecting given that his origin is to be a slave to the Sabbat. Thus to Pyotr and the other Sabbat he will always be known as Shitbeard.

so a fun little vampire factoid: Vinculum is an artificial bond formed between Sabbat members by performing the Vaulderie. This destroys the base blood bond they have and creates a new one and is critical for the mish mash of clans that is the Sabbat. So when Pyoytr says "Despite the vinculum....I never liked you!" he is saying that even the artificial blood bond between them was not enough to build a bond.

I actually really respect Door's outlook when Marckus started getting cold feet from the fight. It indicates to me Marckus wasn't taking it seriously enough to consider the brutality that would occur when pitting starving monsters against each other, despite it being his idea and being the first to treat it like some sort of game. Door has made it clear he understands the ramifications of what is going on from the information they have, and he seemed pretty understanding of the lack of loyalty that they would have towards each other to resort to such actions to begin with, and if anything, the fact that 2 out of 3 of them made it content they were willing to try only validates his perception on them further. He's not dehumanizing them, they are no longer human to begin with, and his explanation that they will treat innocence as livestock and going through with Marckus' plan when he himself should have realized the risks and lack of control he'd have in this 'experiment' to begin with, I think Door has shown his strong sense of discipline against these creatures while Marckus underestimated their capacity for cruelty in such a desperate scenario.

@@TheAzrael666death it does a couple of things. It allows them to increase a skill level in one of the skills the consumed had that is higher than the consumer. It obviously satiates their hunger for blood and makes it easier for them to activate their abilities. If the consumed is of a lower generation than the consumer, it lowers the consumer's generation and can thus increase their blood potency. And last but certainly not least, and the biggest reason it's disallowed, is that it makes the spirit of the consumed become part of the consumer. If the consumer is too weak willed, it can make them erratic, unstable, give them a split personality, or even if the consumed was very strong willed, cause them to take over the consumer whole sale. This causes such a twist of their mental that their entire aura is disrupted to the point that any auspex read can notice a vampire that engaged in diablerie recently.

If the vampire keeps sucking, however, they can catch the soul, absorbing it into their own, denying it of any semblance of an afterlife. If the absorbed vampire is of an older generation (and thus carries more of Cain's power) then the absorber manages to grow in power as though they were of the older generation, but it's immediately apparent to any other vampire with any sort of auspex ability, and due to the whole cessation of existence thing, is a major no-no, whether you're camarilla, sabbat, or anarch.

It took a fight with 3 Bodhisattva's (Kuei-Jin ancients), several werewolf tribes to fight Zapathasura and he killed the Werewolves and the Kuei-Jin were next to be eaten. Only to be hit with a couple of magic sun nukes invented by the Technocracy (mages that use science to cast spells) and he tanked a lot of them. It was the deaths of the Bodhisattva's that caused Zapathasura's final death because they created a powerful cloud which blocked out sunlight and he tanked the sun for a bit before he was destroyed. His death sent a "psychic shockwave" which nearly killed all of his bloodline. So TLDR: Not really. Level 10 Fortitude allows you to tank magic sunlight nukes. But against the younger Vampires definitely yes.

Whatever it is that the Warhammer 40k fans feel whenever they see things they know back in TTS, I think I can feel it in this one. The mere references to factions and traditions in World of Darkness here makes me feel involved. The moment Marckus introduced the idea of letting the Cainites feast on each other, I was screaming bloody Diablerie. As hilarious as this show is, it also perfectly captures the bleakness and existential horror of the World of Darkness. The Kindred can't enjoy any of the simple pleasures of living anymore, the Hunters are barely a step above the monsters they hunt and can be quite callous and cruel. And quite out of their depth when the monsters get to choose the battlefield. I'm especially worried for Door and what sort of moral slippery slope he's headed towards. You know, assuming he survives playing hide and seek with a Nosferatu. I just love how you guys are able to interweave serious action and horror with comedy so seamlessly, and I can't wait for the next episode.

I also really love how it demonstrates their character flaws so well, since this is basically a universe swapping sequel to the TTS series. I feel like in TTS I didn't get a good feel for it because Magnus blamed it all on his father not being present to guide him, but here Marckus is literally causing the worst case scenario when he knows dear old dad is in the next room, ready to give advice if needed. He absolutely does cause disasters by playing with forces he doesn't understand, even when he doesn't have the excuse of not having proper guidance. But in fairness, who expects cannibalism to give you super strength?

@@45calGunslinger Yeah, but door has a similar issue. While Marckus/Magnus is great socially, he lacks objectivity. Adoorable is the opposite, having great objectivity and poor social skills. Which means this is all really Kitten's fault for not asserting himself enough as the voice of reason.

There's a reason Kevin acted so weird. From the White Wolf wiki: One of the unbreakable laws of sorcery is that vampires may not practice Awakened magic. The Embrace either destroys a magus' enlightened soul or expels it to its next incarnation. In any case, the experience is so traumatic that magi emerge from the transformation damaged. Some are so strong-willed they vomit forth their sire's blood and immediately die. The less resolute often enter undeath insane. Yet their occult knowledge remains.

There's actually an art exhibit out there called America and it's a golden toilet that you can actually pay to use. I find it very crass and I think it speaks more of the people who created it and use than it does of the country it is named after.

I had a very long campaign were my character almost never ate human blood and only got it from already dead individuals and only in extreme situations. The Beast was fucking furious, but having 9 in Humanity was worth it when the hunters came knocking.

@@flamestoyershadowkill6400 What the two before me said, plus it's possible to feed on humans without killing them. I dunno how accurate this is, but in VTM:Bloodlines, feeding on humans impairs their memory a bit, so they don't remember it. So long as no one else sees you, and you don't drain the person dry, you can walk away like nothing happened. It's also not unthinkable to have a vampire have several human friends willingly give up blood for one reason or another.

I've not seen anyone mention this, but Big D _has_ to be a mage, right? Between how he said in the last episode 'Time is an odious concept' (significant capitalisation included), 'Concentrate... You are the master of your reality' and 'No witnesses, no crime,' how Kevin and he fought off screen during the free for all, and how in this episode he interrogated Kevin with no witnesses, the evidence is piling up.

I believe the time remark was foreshadowing about how he was absolutely FUCKED on DMT, a drug that alters the user's perception of time. Although it could easily be both.

It's likely that Big D is a Wayward of some stripe or another, it IS wholly plausible he is a Mage- and given the Time comment, he may be a fucking Cult of Ecstasy member, which would explain a whooolllle hell of a lot. It's certainly not uncommon for Mages to lead hunters (or even Hunters) into vampires and other creatures.

@@Azzabackam If he's a mage, it's also possible that he wasn't on DMT, I suppose, since his blood would already screw with Kevin, although given the fact that he smokes DMT immediately afterward, I suspect this was not a lie. I guess it's also interesting how quickly the DMT is smoked, which could end up being more foreshadowing to cult of ecstacy reveal.

@@tristanband4003 The funny thing is vampire facists probably better describes the Anarchs then the Sabbat. The Sabbat are monsters, but they have a rather perverse take on brotherhood, and upwards mobility. They are more like a group of gladiator vampires. With a somewhat noble goal in that they want to kill the antediluvians before they wake up to murder quite literally everyone... Of course everything else about them is pretty terrible.

@@tristanband4003 if you think that. Then you either don't know what facisim is, or you don't know what the Sabbat is. As for the Anarchs. They want to return to being the absoulte rulers of their domains, and to not abide by the masquerade beyond what is simply good sense. An Anarch Baron is like a prince but without any of the checks on their power, or oversight. (Because yes the Camarilla actually do that believe it or not.) And the Sabbat... well for all their failing at least they are honest with you about what they are. Monsters. The Camarilla are about being. Gentlemen monsters. They still need to feed, but they have become more... humanistic as time has gone on. Where in the old days kindred just kind of adopted any numbers of mental gymnastics to suit themselves. The Anarchs basically want a return of the good old days. They were only rebellious because they wanted their own territory and to govern it however they damned well pleased with no restrictions on sireing new vampires, or what not. Though they still hold to the masquerade, and inadvertently they have adopted the sort of vampire humanism aswell that the Camarilla did, but to a lesser extent.

@@irontemplar6222 The only problem with that is the origin of the Anarchs with the Wat Tyler rebellions, which seems to imply at least the most radical anarchs have bigger social visions than just "I do what I damn well please over my domain". How they reconcile these egalitarian visions with their need to feed is largely an individual matter; what they all have in common is rejection of rule of the Camarilla, but the most radical Anarchs are implied to be close in spirit with the egalitarian Wat Tyler rebellions against the human nobility. So, this implies the most radical ones might, say, view human beings as people and thus may not feed on them, or at least not merely see them as livestock.

I think i noticed an extra detail here that makes pyotr extra cunning. He's deliberately giving them as much information as possible in the hopes that if they ultimately are killed off by the hunters, they'll make a mistake and reveal how much they really know now and get a blood hunt after them all.
