I want to address some things for those who want to know; This wasn't, and isn't, supposed to be the end. Just as a spoiler for what was supposed to come next so I don't leave anyone suffering for however long; in the next part, the surviving party would have, against the odds, actually gotten a hold of the Proteus Protocol and proceeded to revive Kitten through, as established, questionable means. It would've led to some pretty permanent-looking brainrot on Kitten's part, but, hope would have been rekindled. And in the very next episode after that, he was also meant to finally, finally, finally return to the throneroom... ... But not before a third yugioh special with the Void Dragon. The third part will not be released despite it honestly being quite close to finished. It was meant to be released about a month after the release of this part but my son was born so I kind of had to take a break... But with the situation now, other than needing to focus on starting up new projects and the lack of motivation, it also, in a horrible way, felt kind of apt to end it here. Sorry. This is all going to be on hiatus until we see the zero-tolerance policy altered and until we see ourselves not entirely attached onto a single license as we have been. This was not a smart thing. It never was. Now, EP30 Part 1 and 2 have existed on Patreon (for free) for a few months now, as you can see on the upload date. The reason why I hadn't uploaded them publicly earlier is because the plan was to start experimenting with Part releases on Patreon (again, for free, no paywalling) and then transition into doing it on KZbin. I know many tend to be averse to change, so I didn't want to start releasing significantly shorter pieces of a full episode all willy-nilly. But now, change has become the norm on this channel so, like, yknow... fuck it. If you want to see what will be worked on next, I will try to be very transparent about my working process and posting regular updated on Patreon (for free). Transparency is important. I don't want this whole stunt to look like a grift for money. I honestly expected everything to drop across the board after this announcement due to sheer disinterest. I had made my peace with that. The fact that the Patreon instead fucking exploded has shocked and straight up frightened me and it has made my need to perform scream like a giant bat. So, I want to do my best with it and I desperately hope people don't look at this and see it as me trying to scam people because fucking GOD NO I want to make internet videos not dedicate myself to a state-of-the-art fraud scheme holy SHIT Nevertheless, a huge thank you to everyone who has stuck with us throughout the years, and I am sorry about this mess, I truly do hate it and we just want to move on from it now.

The TTS series will always have a special place in my heart as proof that it is possible to tell stories in the Warhammer 40K universe that go beyond "Stoic space marines kill faceless monsters" or "Psyker goes boom"... even if they start out as parody. But the discussion "Is the Grimdark a Story or Setting?" in one of the episodes (I think in one of the Specials?) hits painfully hard in light of this last episode: If it is _story_ then protagonists can affect notable change and improvements. But if it is _Setting_ then characters are ultimately powerless to change anything fundamentally. Oh, _events_ may happen (the Eye of Terror, the Great Rift, another invasion or crusade), but as Magnus argued, you can't destroy Chaos because it's build in, like gravity. (Although I feel protagonists should at least be able to destroy _Chaos gods_ as those are not forces of nature but mere embodiments of a concept and thus have individuality and form. Otherwise what is the point?) I'm not a strategy tabletop Warhammer player, but a pen & paper roleplayer, and though I was once asked if I wanted to play a Warhammer 40K Imperial campaign (I knew the basics of the setting and storyline... Emperor of Man, Horus Heresy, Inquisition, Chaos, Orks etc), I declined for precisely the above-mentioned reasons: I simply didn't see any character concept I felt I wanted to play. Not just because all possible stories felt similar, characters could either be loyalist or dead, no room for rebels. But worse, I didn't see any way a player character could ultimately _change_ anything. You are forced to uphold the Status Quo that is survival, because viable alternatives don't exist. Pathos and splatterpunk combat is all nice and fine, but after a while it gets tiring. But the creators of TTS at least gave me characters I could care about. Even though their fate, to rage against fate but to ultimately fail, broke my heart in the end. Thank you for the story.

Magnus correctly asserted that you can't really *kill* the Chaos Gods permanently since they are ultimately just subconcious constructs borne of the Warp -- kind of like how a wave only exists in the context of the ocean, but even if you stop the wave the ocean is still there. And what E-Money was getting at (in a very roundabout and cryptic way) with his talk about "Defeating" them wasn't to kill them for good, since they represent both natural processes and human emotions and both have to exist and such, but he wanted to defeat this ugly incarnation of them and restore the balance of the Warp from its current horrendous state and affect permanent positive change on the place. So oddly enough the Emperor actually agrees with you, I think.

I think Kitten was most perfectly described with this line from Santodes: “You’re like a widowed father who’s trying to do his best!” Kitten probably had no one close to him that he felt he could truly rely on wholeheartedly (Magnus and Rogal Dorn were close, yet never fully trusted), and yet he always gritted his teeth and did what needed to be done. The fact that he could also empathize with and treat others with true respect, while balancing everything he had to do and the sheer weight the Emperor put upon his shoulders, is truly remarkable. How the "If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device" timeline intersets with the official Lore timeline: Captain-General Kitten as predecessor of Trajann Valoris: TTS events are in 999.M41 and 000.M42, the turn of the 41st millenium to the 42nd millenium, after the end of the era called Years of Madness (between M40 and M41). During that time, in official canon, Captain-General Galahoth disappeared. He was succeeded by Captain-General Launceddre who died at the Battle of the Gilded Pyre (to a cabal of Fallen Psykers, odd considering Custodes are immune to "the powers of the Psyker and the Null").TTS inserts Kitten as Captain-General between Launceddre and Trajann Valoris, as Wamuudes mentions having voted for Valoris in the Vox Cast 2 while the other Custodes voted for Kitten. After Kitten's death on Mars, Valoris declares himself new Captain-General and warmaster during the demonic invasion of the Palace known as the Battle of Lion's Gate. After Guilliman's return and installation as Regent the Edict of Restraint is lifted and the Custodes now fight in the Indominous Crusade throughout the remaining half of the Imperium, except for the Companions who stay in the Palace guarding the Emperor. The depressing thing is, if TTs is merged with the official WH40K canon, the Emperor's psychic outburst of fury and grief at the Void Dragon final message "There can be no victor" and Kitten's death in battle to underhanded tactics would perfectly explain the Great Rift forming and the Darkness falling over Holy Terra. The text-to-speech device is damaged, or the Emperor is too depressed and doesn't feel like talking anymore. Just then, Guilliman awakens from his coma (ironically because Kitten refused to obey the Emperor's orders to have Guilliman's life support cut), flies from Ultramar to the Solar System and battles Magnus the Red [and in GW canon also his Thousand Sons] on the moon where Magnus is trying to do that ritual to create the deity Ynnead, meaning the ritual goes sideways and Magnus leaves in a huff. Guilliman declares everything is Magnus' fault, as always. As Rogal Dorn is dead due to his self-sacrifice in TTS [and was dead in official canon all along], Dorn can't explain things to Guilliman. If Kitten stays dead, Guilliman would declare Kitten as having fallen under the influence of Magnus and Chaos leading to Kitten's decision to lead an unauthorized attack on the Mechanicus of Mars. Guilliman declares the slaughter of Shield Host Proteus to be striken from the history records, meaning the fallen Custodes are not mourned as fallen heroes. Cawl uses their corpses as base for his Primaris Space Marine project, which Guilliman is only too happy to accept. Bleh. If the TTS timeline continues as originally planned and Kitten is resurrected by the questionable means of the Proteus Protocol and returns with the surviving members of his Shield Host to Terra, but has gone bonkers (and is replaced by Valoris as Captain-General), then we can only pray the Star Child escapes from Commoragh and makes it to Terra and merges with Kitten. The Star Child could heal poor Kitten's deteriorating state and firmly attach his soul to his body again, turning Kitten into an winged ascended Custodes-angel glowing with the Light of the Emperor. (Kitten has already been manifesting that piece of the essence of the Emperor the Custodes are infused with during creation, the "holy light", at least four times, from golden sparkles at being stripped of his armour, to a full aura during the card game duel against Tzeentch, to filling the whole vast room during the Rock Opera scene in Ep28.) Because otherwise, Guilliman would take one look at poor Kitten (and the remains of his Tzeentch-infested armour), declare him "corrupted by Chaos" and have Kitten and any remaining Custodes survivors who try to defend Kitten executed. The text-to-speech device is also declared heretical. And who ordered it installed in the first place? Why, that was the Captain-General Kitten! Who later hung out with Magnus the Red. Clearly that Custodes had been corrupted by Magnus all along! At best someone can convince Guilliman that the Custodes thought they were following the orders of the Emperor. Because Guilliman, who been out of the loop on events for thousands of years, still thinks of Custodes as mere "automatons" and Yes-men who are indoctrinated to be unquestioningly loyal to the Emperor and unable to think for themselves, the other Custodes (like the Fabulous Custodes) are spared if they declare their loyalty to Guilliman. I don't like that potential timeline. And I don't give a damn about Trajann Valoris. Take me away to a happier ending, please.

This ignores some major things. 1. Magnus's soul was freed from Tzeentch and was now recognized as a loyalist by the high Lords of Terra and ecclesiarchy (Or however you spell it) 2. The custodes were thinking about killing Guilliman before the emperor granted him his blessing, they would not have helped Guilliman if he ordered the deaths of Kitten and his allies especially since he was so liked by the other custodes and they were well informed of Magnus being loyalist. 3. The emperor would be fucking livid at Guilliman if he did this and would not play ball. If Guilliman were to even meet the emperor it would go poorly, very poorly. Odds are if Guilliman tried to do any of this the entirety of the Adeptus Custodes would go against Guilliman along with the emperor. It's clear the emperor cared *deeply* for kitten so logical or not the emperor would go against Guilliman for this shit. If Guilliman were to pull this shit it would basically result in civil war. Also, I have a feeling the emperor would have Cawl killed or at least punished for attacking his beloved custodes. While the emperor isn't usually active, I have a feeling he would most certainly be in this situation.

Here's something that makes this even more depressing: the abrupt ending allows TTS to exist within the actual canon (which GW doesn't FREAKING deserve) in the worst way possible. Consider: 1. Rogal, sadly, is dead. Giving his life to end the Emperor's rage-fueled warp rift. 2. The Custodes on Mars are slaughtered to a man, with Cawl covering it up. 3. Things with Ynnead go sideways per canon, and when Magnus gets back the Emperor acts like an ABSOLUTE asshole to him, blaming him for points 1 and 2. 4. This combined with Magnus's genuine shock and sorrow at the whole thing lead him to snap at Emps and screw off back to the warp. 5. Things quickly go back to normal for the Imperium as the Emperor ceases to speak and retreats into a deep depression. 6. From there, the canon moves forward in all the ways GW cribbed from TTS. Cadia, Roboute, etc. 7. Emps, as you can imagine, treats Guilliman as a cheap replacement for His original plan, and acts accordingly to him. He's also not in too great of a mood about Cawl becoming too indespensible to the Imperium's war effort to have assassinated but He grudgingly goes along with it. In short, welcome back to the Grimdark ladies and gentlemen. Fortunately if part 3 comes out someday this whole theory goes out the window like GW's chances of me ever buying anything from them again.

It SHOULDN'T be "not a smart thing". But it sadly is. It is ridiculous the levels corporations will go to attack their own fans. And yes, I said corporations, not Games Workshop specifically. Its always been that way but it seems to be getting worse. Marvel/Disney actually sued one of the original artists of Ghost Rider for drawing a character he helped create at conventions and signing it for a few bucks. This is reaching a point where people drawing fanart or writing fanfiction are going to be on the chopping block. I am sorry to Team Fourstar for their efforts to get people to support the official release but I find it hard to do that when they are so ever presently petty to the point that I wonder if soon children will be sent cease and desist orders for drawing characters in art class. All they have to do is scan it and upload it to the internet.

Kitten was the captain general, he has been so belittled in the series than we tend to forget this, but he's the head of the adeptus custodes, he was chosen because he was steadfast, competent, and in this canon, respected and loved. He wasn't just some butler to a corpse-emperor, he was the man chosen to be the head of yet the strongest army of the holy terra. He's basically a demi-god, and we forgot it because of his humility.

It is rather poignant that the Mechanicus army decimated the Adeptus Custodes with a combat strategy that is basically what Kitten in an earlier episode (15) hated about the Tau: Stacking massive amounts of ranged weapons instead of using "honorable melee" like the Custodes, raining down phosporous fire on them as the Custodes charged across the desert plains (after having lost their only vehicle before the battle even started), and and using cowardly tactics like self-destruct explosions from units that were already defeated in battle.
