V8 Supercars with all its mega bucks , teams, sponsors , driver's and factory support , can't make thier races as half as exicting as this bunch of privateers with cars built in back yard garages , my god were going backwards as a society !

I agree - I have always liked Sports Sedans because they are a real "engineers" class - the builders (usually the drivers) had to work out the best way to balance power, braking and handling when building a car from scratch. Also because each car had its own strengths and weaknesses, their performance on different tracks (and on parts of an individual track) varied, the racing was always exciting. And finally, the cars looked different from each other and had their own individual character. I would scrap V8 Supercars and just have stock-standard production cars and full-on Sports Sedans.

ian Algie raced one in New Zealand in the early 80's with a 5 litre V8 in it. He had to drive it from the back seat . Its now being restored.

I read that Beninca Alfetta had a truck-sized turbo which put so much stress on the chassis the car was falling apart toward the end of it's career!

The car was falling apart at the start of its career!! It was mostly standard GTV suspension and body. Just a big HP engine

Domonic was lucky it was Thommo behind him or he would have been shunted with the sideways action. Though that was the way he always drove that car. Which in reality was always a shitbox. But driven very well between engine explosions.

1000hp, none!! The 2 most powerfull cars is Thommos Benz and Domonics Alfa. Though both light switch engines. Especially the Alfa. Jolly Bobs Commodore would be under 600hp in those days
