the heart of the Alfa Romeo Alfetta is its ITalian engine, either Satta four cylinder twin cam or Busso v6; if they wanted a v8 they should have put the v8 tipo 33 engine into it or the montreal v8!

@@anthonypetty9288 I read the full article attached to the video clip but i rest by what I said. The Alfetta is an Italian car and should have had an Alfa Romeo Engine. There were 18 Alfettas built with the montreal 2.6 ltr V8 for road driving. However the race Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 3 litre engine which the Montreal derived from, produced 440hp in 1971 and was injected and very reliable and placed mid engine in the tipo 33, with Alfa Romeo coming second in the world sportscar championship behind Porsche with their much more potent 917s and ahead of Ferrari with their 512s and 312s. The Tipo 33 with the 3 litre 440hp engine was compact also and could have been slightly bored out to increase capacity and power and put into the Alfetta.

you seem to be forgetting a few things here: - NZ is historically more V8 or American inclined than of European influence. There's a massive presence of American Classics and currently 2nd country in world by Classics per capita; - NZ is a country far away from the rest of the Western World, this car was built in the 80s when shipping and spares were not as available and globalized as today; - The costs of maintaining your proposed power plant vs. the cheap and easy to find, durable Chevy V8 which still delivers blistering performance at 8500rpm for a tenth of the investment; - Your reference to the Tipo 33 Stradale is like saying go get an engine from a Mclaren F1 GTR or a 250 GTO and go race it hard on track. As much as we'd love to see and hear that, it's a very unrealistic proposition from a budget perspective.

@@racecars.universe I was good friends with a NZ designer living in my city in England and he was also an Alfista and he built a Giulia GTA replica with an Alfa Romeo engine without any problems although he did say most of his parts were sourced from long way away. Also I did not mention the tipo 33 stradale at all! That was a limited production road car which because of the tiny number produced has become very expensive over the last years, although in the 90s that was not the case relatively speaking. I was referring to the Tipo 33 engine which would have cost the same as the equivalent porsche or ford engines in period in the 1970s and was one of the reasons Brabham used it in period. I also said that the montreal v8 could have been used, which is a much less dear option and indeed montreal car prices were very low in the 1990s. If you are going to use a Chevrolet v8 then in my opinion it would have been better to use say a camaro car.
