Loved the movie Alfie in the 60’s and this is the first time I’ve watched it again in over 50 years. Michael Cain is still an excellent actor!
@persecutednana3 жыл бұрын
Always loved this film the older version from 1966, Michael Caine was superb for the part of Alfie,as he was born in London and a cockney I think,so he was totally suited to this role,this is my favourite of his movies,amazing actor
@andybullemor-music59282 күн бұрын
Not a cockney. He was born in South London. A true Cockney is born within the sound of the Bow Bells from St Mary Le Bow Church. Although most people from East London are considered Cockneys.

Calling women "it" seems a bit strong now but poor old Alfie gets his comeuppance. It's actually a very radical film for 1966. We woz cutting edge back then.

A gem of a film that is still 100% relevant today. Also valuable as a look at the way our parents (if you are aged 40-50) used to live. And one of Michael's best performances!

I'm an American in my 50s and have not watched many movies over the years,especially those churned out by Holly wood. This film amazed me when I watched it so many years ago. I rented it and watched it with my son when he was a teenager,about 10 years ago. He was so very impressed by it too. We love how the story begins and ends with the little stray dog. "Alfie" 1966 is truly unique among films and what an excellent actor Michael Caine has always been!
@justinneill5003 Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s pretty unique, funny on one level but brutal on another. As a teenager in the 70s, before discovering that women were human beings, I found it outrageously hilarious, until the end which was sordid, squalid and depressing. A cautionary tale, you might say,

I saw this film for the first (& only time until now) when I was in secondary school. It broke me up. I survived it better this time. Many years later. How sensitive we are when we are young. We usually have no idea. But seeing this again, I recall all the terrible moments for me then. They are still terrible, but abit muted , w a glint of humour slipping through the cracks left by the breaking. I didn't recall the film being so moralistic either, altho' What's it all about? is THE question all right.
@vecxio8070 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it hurts, especially as a young man, It shatters your perception of what relationships and love are, it's a huge dose of realism and the true human nature of both men and women. That's why this movie is brilliant. One must face the realities of life instead of running away from them.

Graham was a favorite of Director/, Writer Blake Edwards. He would appear in Edwards classic “ Victor and Victoria”” Julia Foster or Millicent Martin in 1966. Bloody difficult choice. ?????
