With my dogs from puppies we put them in cages, I know it sounds horrible to put them in a cage but we make it to really nice and comfortable with blankets and a good experience. We give them a small puppy biscuit when they go to bed, one they are in the cage so they associate it with good things. We also cover it with a bed sheet to make it dark and when ever we heard then barking downstairs we would just leave them for a while and they will stop and fall asleep. Now they are perfectly fine in fact can't wait to go to bed in there cage. I have 2 Cavaliers, Poppy and Percy who have recently turned 10. Hope this helps it has helped when I have given this advice to friends

First of all, when you say NO to Nala - you really have to mean it, she senses it right away, if you dont really mean it! Then you simply tell her NO when she wants to go on the bed. You cant force her to stay in her bed, so if she just lies on the floor thats fine. But NO has to come from a serious place, otherwise....forget it :) (ps: get her a slow feeding bowl - it really works )

With our dog we put her in her bed, praised her and then if she came out we would put her straight back without talking to her or looking at her, it takes a while but as long as she understands she gets praised for being in bed and ignored when she gets out she'll begin to understand :) hope that helps!

The problem is, is when there are times, you are allowing Nala coming into bed, she won't understand why she's not allowed in other times (at night). So my dog is sleeping right next to my bed in his own bed, but is never ever aloud in my bed. Thats why he isn't ever begging to come up...

Tip with dogs not wanting to go to bed: put her into bed without saying anything or having any emotion (dogs pick up on emotion very well) and leave her alone. If she comes onto the bed, just simply put her back into her own bed without any emotion, it seems cruel but it will teach her to stay in her bed when you two go to sleep :) This is all coming from experience with my own dogs :) You guys are doing such a good job with your little pooch!

to get nala to stay in her bed you need to ease her into it , leave her bed in the room and let her sleep with you for a week or so then he next week try to get her to sleep in the bed and if she doesn't let her sleep with you ,for a final week really try to make her stay in her bed for the night.
