@@twistedpivoter2695 sheer wieght? Most spadoni weighted maximum 3kg, most of them about 2.4 kg, not really what i would consider very heavy. You're supposed to handle it like that for multiple opponents, but Achille Marozzo used it to duel. It's different styles.

I wonder if there is some way to excercise theese, with the contact of the blade in some parts of the moves. Just for the purpoase to be able to check the sword alinement during those cuts, as to be able to ensure yourself, that those cuts dont end up flat.

Gnereally speaking none. Spadone is Italian for Montante. Though Spadone can also just mean sword....its confysing as you might guess.

These cuts look a like Longsword cuts where you follow through with the cut rather than stopping at "longpoint" (langort). Is it possible that Greatsword techniques evolved from Longsword?

And you're very good with that sword. Either its the swords or its also you. I got a big del tin sword... no blade taper so I can't pull off some of the cool FAST manuevers you can. But it helps with weight training... lol

Objectively false, and at this point, misinformation spread en-masse by certain “muh realism” tubers that havent ever trained or extensively studied these forms. You must know that turns and about-faces are for use in scenarios where you are being flanked and/or surrounded by multiple. Turning serves both as a check to an enemy position, as well as in some cases, to “wind” your starting swings up with much less effort, thus conserving stamina while continuing your assault. A turn on the heels into a step that then turns you to face initially is also the fastest possible way to retreat a meters length. you must use the reach of your blade like a shield to deter and survive. Tunnel visioning one enemy in a situation where you are being assailed by multiple is literally certain death. Respect and understand the purpose of a turn.

The enemy may choose to not just stand still in front of you to be cut down. He might maneuver or even have friends coming from several sides. Your understanding of actual combat is, I am sorry to say so bluntly, limited and romanticised. The Montante/Spadone/Zweihänder has two purposes; one is breaking up pike formations on the battlefield. And there you are right, best keep facing the enemy. The other is for bodyguards/champions of nobles, who has to be prepared to be ambushed/assailed from all sides by thugs, assassins or enemies. If you actually read the treatises, you will see these drills- and most other we have for those greatswords, focus on exactly that. Godinho even has a drill called "defending a girl", where the champion train moving around a girl kneeling under/inside the sword cuts. 16th century Italy and Iberian Peninsula were volatile and dangerous places with a lot of wars and a lot of schemes.

@@PalleRasmussen Yeah they are kinda like crowd control, and denying space technigues i feel. The user basicly creates absolute death zone around himself where everyone would think twice to step in to, and since the blade is already in momentum i can imagine skilled user can then cut very fast straight from the move if someone decides to step in.

@@lalli8152 I must say that with numeriorical superiority especially, and a short sword and good shield; I would not hesitate. I am used to facing spears and Daneaxes (actually I mostly use the spear), and with timing the guy with the long weapon is toast. However timing only comes with experience, so you have to be an experienced fighter to do it, which most are and were not. Think professional bodyguard with military background Vs thugs. Basically the same then and now. But if the assassin is also a pro, it is more difficult.
