How utterly refreshing to find an instructional video that doesn't have 15 minutes of superfluous, self-serving and arrogant cra* before getting down to business. An absolutely OUTSTANDING piece of work. This is the sort of bike retailer that I want to purchase my bike from and have my bike serviced by. Just no-nonsense, ego-free professionalism. Well done Sir!

Appreciate the video, just bought one of these and was wondering about fixing flats. Pretty simple actually.

That was a lot easir than I thought. A lot of people were saying you had to redo the side adjustments to get the tire running true again........but I see that part of it does not move when you take the tire out..........which is great.............I am liking this bike more and more.

Thanks for the tips. I struggled getting these byways on and off. It's been the hardest tire to work with for me, but this video helped a lot. Also with getting the wheel on and off.
@PriorityBicyclesNYC3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff. Feel free to email or text anytime. The byways are firm so they take a bit to get off but they are a great tire. Thanks!

Oooooh. Flipping the bike upside down looks much smoother with that rear wheel removal. Smahhht.

After fixing the rear tire for flats, do we check the belt drive tension? Looking forward for the video on how to adjust the belt drive tension on the Apollos. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the clear instructions. Is there much difference with the removal of a wheel running an Alfine 11 *Di2* hub? There's no cable to release and the motor unit seems to hide most of the part where you disconnect the cable on the non-Di2 hub. If there's much of a difference, please could you make a video showing the Di2 version ...I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd appreciate it!

After watching this excellent video, I don't know why I always have such a hard time getting the tire back on the rim. I run into a problem trying to push the last few inches of the bead over the rim.
@MstrRo12 жыл бұрын
One of the hints is to be assure that the bead is as far into the well of the rim as you can get it before pushing on the last few inches of tire over the rim edge.

Somewhat related to this, but about the Alfine hub. Doesn't the green index spacer go on the drive side and the blue on the non-drive side? Obviously it's working fine on your bike, but mine is opposite and also working fine. Hmmmmm?

Can any Alfine geared bike be converted to a belt drive or is it a special complete hub that can be bought
@e.miller89432 жыл бұрын
Most drive belts are a continus loop. In order to install one, the bike frame has to be split. This is not a problem for chains, which can can be split at any link. I bought a bike with a 3-speed Shimano drive and a belt. While I really like not having a derrailure, I don't find much advantage in having a belt over a chain. If you ride in wet and muddy conditions, the belt would be an asset.

Good time to go tubeless. With plugs you don't need to take the tire off!

Why remove the wheel? And you do need some patches to fix a flat!
@e.miller89432 жыл бұрын
It is possible to repair a flat tire without removing the tire from the bike, but most bikers don't do it that way. Firstly, it is important to thoroughly examine the tire to see what caused the flat, which may not be obvious. Secondly, most riders will simply replace the tube rather than patching it to decrease the possibility of having another flat.

The best thing you can do with this Apollo is throw away that WTB tire immediately and replace it with Schwalbe Marathons before you take your first ride. You will NEVER have to worry about a flat on Schwalbe Marathon be it green guard or blue guard anything less than this is a waste of time.
@PriorityBicyclesNYC2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your recommendation. The good thing with all of our bicycles is that riders can customize them for what is best for their ride.
@dreimer2112 Жыл бұрын
I'll vouch for Marathons all day long, as they made a world of difference to my commute experience. But while they are bomb-proof commuting and touring tires, they are hot trash on gravel and I wouldn't recommend, specify, or use them on a gravel bike. If I buy one of these Apollos to replace my commuter (I'm thinking about it right now) I will definitely put Marathons on.
