their look game and chemistry is top notch but the storyline of how they become lover is not jellying ie, he reported him for gross misconduct, then he end up in his bed? Like ... ? that was fitting how they... tho I know immediately I say henry they will be lover...they didn’t show how they.. also that beard on alfred..couldn’t see much expression on him

My take is that Henry possesses great emotional intelligence and he simply knew that Alfred was shit scared to go down that road and him arresting Henry was his defense mechanism as he was still in a denial. After all, Henry didn’t even ease him into it, he just leaped in for a kiss the first time they were alone together while Alfred was on a official business. I’m sure he had to realise that it must have been too rushed for a high society man that was closeted all his life. Then later, during the meeting in the park, he addressed the arrest was was about to walk out on Alfred because despite the attraction he has his standards until Alfred didn’t show real interest and commitment in the common investigation he suggested they lead. By that he also showed that he is easing into being comfortable around Henry and into acceptance of his own sexuality which opened the path for them. From then on it was pretty straightforward and so their storyline has been always believable for me. And it was such a beautiful storyline ❤. As for Alfred’s beard, there was so much going on in his eyes, his body language and his voice that I feel that he was very expressive. It was subtle but very powerful. Like his subtle smiles that you could barely see but they lit up his face and his whole being so much. And this subtleness was really fitting because it was a secret romance in a society unforgiving to homosexuals. This is my favourite part of the series. I just can’t get enough of it. For me it’s perfect. Sorry for rambling on in response to your comment but I got carried away because this is the best romance ever I’ve seen portrayed on a screen ❤
