Vorrei solo dire, alla persona al cui commento ho messo: < Mi piace >, che, in Alfredo Kraus, non c'è nulla di buono... ( Buona dizione, buon legato, buon fiato...)... In Kraus è tutto STRAORDINARIO!

Hey guys, why don't you move your charming discussion to some Lanza's page? It would be much more appropriate there, both in topic and in style.

@vanderBoedefeld If Tebaldi thought Lanza could have sung "Otello" who has the unmitigated nerve to say he couldn't? If you had listened to Lanza sing the last year of his life his voice darkened dramatically ( No Pun Intended) and it's very conceivable had he forgone Hollywood and studied the role there is no doubt he could have done it . Lanza's voice was unique in that he was a Lirico-Spinto but had dramatic qualities that few tenors had.

What a strange argument.....as if Kraus ever tried to sing Otello :) Lanza's voice was probably bigger, but Kraus was never about big voice. And if you don't care for elegance and restraint - why listen to Kraus at all??

@vanderBoedefeld Lanza's voice would dwarf Kraus even if Kraus had been 35 and in the prime of his vocal life that's a fact . Anybody with any sense of hearing at all could tell you that. As for Lanza being a better Otello than MDM . Tebaldi herself listened to Lanza sing the 3rd act of Otello and was brought to tears and later begged him to have a Operatic career. So i guess you would have to call her stupid too. she along with Callas said Lanza had the greatest natural Tenor ever.

@ronaldo190172 Ronaldo you are right, Kraus pales terribly to Lanza especially in this song. Kraus was a pure lyric tenor while Lanza a lirrico-spinto and towards the latter part of his life Lanza's voice darkened with a dramatic quality to it. No way could Kraus have sung Otello but Lanza YES had he chose to and he would have been better than the other Mario .

@Etnalleb Lanza could not ever sing in an opera production in his later years because by then he was blind in both eyes from flailing his arms around like an idiot. He was warned sooner or later he would manage to stick those two dago thumbs into his eye sockets and rupture his eyeballs. Especially seeing (haha) that his eyes would bug out trying for those high notes that RCA would so lovingly embellish to make up for his screeching.

Technically perfect but miles short of Lanza's version
