OB shine juice amazing finish by Al Furtado

I shortened this video because of the annoying Whining noise I was getting off my VFD before I had adjusted the parameters that silenced It.
Please excuse the WHINING NOISE. It has been fixed for future video enjoyment.
I used this test and focused on my favorite finish OB shine juice. The results speak for themselves.

Well, as someone who always had palms of some kind in their garden I could have told you that palm is stringy and not good for turning, unless of course you want to douse it in resin. Black palm is denser and can be turned to some extent, but it's also quite flaky... Like you said, the OB juice worked wonders on that little vase! Thanks for sharing! Yuval.

Well Yuval why didn't you tell me that sooner? LOL. I was always curious if it was turnable but now I know. You do know I have a saying....."never burn before you turn". I was not able to turn it the first time and the second was even worst LOL In this case Palm will never hit my lathe again.Thanks for watching. Take care my friend.

In that case, I would also recommend you wouldn't burn it!! It's like burning cloth fibers, it will make a mess of the whole neighborhood!! :)

Nice little piece, Al. I use shine all the time for an instant finish on my ring and earring boxes but it eventually goes to a satin finish. I do miss Capt. Eddie and I hope he will be back. looking forward to what you will do in the new year. Cheers

Hi Jeff thanks for watching. Speed is one of those things you have to use gut feeling and nature of the piece. if it is oddly shaped and off balance you can't go the recommended speed for the size It's only after carefully looking at the wood's weakness that you decide on what is safe. I can tell you it ranges form 500 RPM to 1200 on smaller pieces. The chuck is a cheap Nova in this video. Take care my friend. till the next one. Happy turning.

al im like you,, i like ob shine juice and i got the receipt from captain eddie also,,,i was watching him the other day and he was finish a product and he said he used deft laquar sanding sealer before applying the shine juice,,,i tried it and it was amazing how much difference it made,,just thought you might want to know,,

Dang shame about that Palm 🌴. Maybe vacume cast it in resin? Nice vase though, and I believe the word you were looking for, and forgive my spelling if that's wrong, is shatoyance (for the light play within the grain of the piece).

Hi Al, just caught your video and was curious what finish you had before you put on the OB juice? I use the juice but don't get the high gloss like you did on the first coat. I enjoy your videos... Take care ... Ray

I am not sure on this particular case but After sanding with 400g I always use fine steel wool and apply Yorkshire grit than a few applications of OB shine juice. Remenber some woods will do better than others but the technique is always the same unless I am looking for a more rough look on the piece
