Great piece and definitely an amazing finish. Going to have to give Cap'n Eddie's OB Shine juice a try. Thanks.
@AlFurtado8 жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend. Yeah I swear by the OB shine juice but depending on the wood and the sanding it has a huge effect of course. Sanding sealer goes a long way as well.Merry Christmas

Thank you for watching and commenting. My finishes vary quite a bit with the finish as well. It all depends on how much sanding I do ad weather I use sanding sealer or not. It's mostly on the wood.Merry Christmas.

The vase came out really nice, nice the way the wood has all those spots. The lathe seams like it's working well but you know me I have to always find something to pick on and this time the only thing i can pick is the high pitch wine I hear when in low RPMs. it might be something close to the fan or it needs to be adjusted, but what do I know... lol
@AlFurtado8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I knew it was there and had been trying to figure out how to fix it. I knew it was in the programing but could not find it. I posted a help in FB and a friend gave me the name of the perimeter and Sure enough I was able to find it on the manual and BAM it's gone.Take care Merry Christmas.

HI Al, I have said it to you before, the piece you end up with was always in the lump of wood, It just needed an artisan, such as you, to pull it out :)

Thank you so much my friend. In this case anyone could have brought out the beauty as it was in the wood. Merry Christmas.

Hi Al, love your video's please use a steel bar to tighten your chuck not a drill bit which is brittle and could shatter in you hand cheers Rodders

Did you make the big heavy bar tool you were hollowing with towards the end? And what from?
@AlFurtado8 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom. Yeas I used 2 home made tools at the end. One was a broken 1/2 inch drill bit. I flattened to top and sharpened the bottom like a bowl gouge. That works great. The bigger one was a cold steel chisel, That does a great job on deeper pieces with a much better control. Sharpened some what like the above description This one is a but aggressive though.Merry Christmas.

Once again you have out done yourself !! Having an issue using the OB Juice that hopefully you can help. I've been sanding my projects to 600 and can't see any scratches or damage due to end grain. However after putting on the finish I've noticed 'flat spots' in the finish. I realize that it must have something to do with the density of the wood at those spots, allowing for greater absorption. Will using a dealer 1st in any way interfere with the OB Juice finish. I don't think it would but...or would you have any other suggestions. Keep up the great videos, not only educational but extremely motivating .
@AlFurtado5 жыл бұрын
As soon as I started reading your question I was thinking OK you need to use sanding sealer . You are correct the wood is absorbing the finish different in one area versus another. I use to have that problem when I first started until I started using sanding sealer and I used it on every project after that until I started using Yorkshire grit. but even using Yorkshire grit it is recommended you use a sanding sealer as well but I am a Rebel and refuse LOLI hope this helps Take care
