Of the three shown, I would prefer the Lake resort, but I would like to try different options: resort, BnBs, boutique hotels, and typical apartment living to see a variety of lifestyles in the Algarve.

3 beautiful, obviously luxury hotels. Wow! If I were part of the yachting crowd, I'd love to stay at the Tivoli. We prefer a smaller, more intimate hotel setting, e.g. a boutique hotel or a Bed and Breakfast. I like the private, relaxed, personal, and customized feel of small settings. Thanks for this video, Nick. Looking forward to Part 2👍

Hey Janys, I agree, I love the more boutique style of hotels. We're heading up to the Alentejo for a couple of nights in one. Exciting!

We like to stay in the Eastern Algarve which means Faro and east of Faro for us. We are not beach goers or pool users but enjoy four star hotels that are located to put us in touch with locals and the local scene and that has meant something near the permanent markets in both Faro and Tavira. Local good restaurants are easily accessible in those areas, in Tavira particularly so. In Faro that still puts one in close proximity with both bus and rail but a ten-minute walk in Tavira. We do like the Vila Gale chain of hotels in both the Algarve and Madeira and beyond. We have done self-catering for long lets up to 2019 but have found that now there is a shortage of decent supply, so much so that average pricing typically means we are better off staying in a hotel and eating out without there being that much difference price-wise. In Tavira there is a very good laundrette on the river edge too.

Country lodges and hidden boutique hotels are our favourite. Also, self catering villas are awesome with friends or family.

I tend to love those as well. I was just recommended a stunning one in Silves. Let me know of you have any particular ones you love.

We will be checking out more of the Bed & Breakfast types in Tavira and surrounding areas for our guests who will undoubtedly be visiting us from all over once we move to the Algarve!❤ And we always love a good resort, maybe one with some historic background.

I like city hotels, like 3HB , right in the center of Faro, it was wonderful!

Yes 3HB is fantastic, I toured it in my Faro video. What a fantastic place.

AirBnBs exclusively. There are tons of them, at least in Lagos and Albufeira. You get a full apartment with pool and beach access, separate bedroom(s), and most importantly a kitchen so you don't have to eat every meal out. And more privacy, to be honest. All for around $100/night.
