The remains of São Vicente were brought to the Cape from Spain, and were buried in a small church there. Hence the Cape now being known as Cabo de São Vicente. However, when D. Alfonso Henriques heard about this, he had the remains brought to Lisbon by ship. The ship, according to the legend, was followed by two crows all the way to Lisbon. For this reason, two crows and a caravela (ship) are the symbols for the city of Lisbon. They can be seen on the top of some street lamps and also in some designs of the calçada around the city.

That may be the coolest thing along the trail. I'm going to make it a must see on my next trip.

Lived in Comillas, Cantabria for several years post-military and worked for the World Food Program. Many years traveling around Portugal and especially Algarve. Unfortunately, my 10 year visa expired and could not be renewed as I did not reside in Spain my last year of the visa, according to the Spanish consul in Miami. My thoughts about living 4 or 5 months a year in Portugal were then a challenge. Having had boat here in Florida..I thought..why not buy a boat and keep in one of the trendy marinas. During off-season, place on the hard. It's not like buying a house, but a fun and easy way to live in a foreign country. This presentation metric on marinas and referral to various yacht brokers might be a modest income generator (via referral commissin) or would appeal to many who cannot afford or do not want a house or piso. Most marinas are downtown and close to everything, so need real need for a vehicle. Just a thought! Randall

Nick how far was it actually? 30 or 20k? Amazing how each section is gorgeous but so different. Love them all.
