Why can't 48 be our y-value since when x=0, our y value can be identified?

If you're asking about question number 6, then yes! There's more than one way to get the same answer! An alternative way to solve this is to plug in x=1 (hour) and y=48 (# of bacteria) to find the value of b. This would set up the equation as 48=40(b^1), giving us the same value of b=1.2, and then using that to find the number of bacteria after 8 hours, y=40(1.2)^8=171.9926784. Hope that helps!
