Why r people forgetting that the concept of partition was a Hindu majority India and Muslim majority Pakistan. My only guess is that this type of Indian left, the English-medium types that fills the halls of such esteemed venues as Algebra debates, is ashamed of their own cultural and religious heritage. So while the brutalities of partition on Hindus by others are not to be brought up, Hindu lynchers are to be brought up at the end of every sentence. I have reservations about Mani Shankar being termed intellectual' atleast on the level of Swapan Dasgupta who is not only erudite and has clarity of mind, but also hinting at the necessity of his stand and its relevance right now.
