Ha ha, I was wearing ear phones while listening to this and it sounded like the mosquitos were right by my ears.

Biggest pike we caught on booth was 44 inches long and weighed 20 pounds on the far side near sandy area. Same weekend at least two hundred bass phenomenal fishing. Thanx for sharing

Wow that is amazing! We were either not throwing the right things or the weather changes might have spooked them because there was no lack of effort on our end haha

We used to go there every year in the 60's. We would catch huge pike, walleye and trout. It was an amazing place but only for the tough. Having to go up logging trails to get there with 4 wheel drives. The mosquitos were so thich we have to get tetnis shots when we got back to the states. I'd go back in a heart beat but I now live in Tx. We have a real mosquito problem here too but not as good of fishing. :(

Just did the same route in October. There were no mosquitoes, and nice weather.

That sounds like a real treat! The bug shirts helped a lot and we had the entire area to ourselves which was a plus to going at this time of year. Sounds like you had a good trip!

Advice- It’s significantly easier to paddle solo when sitting in the bow seat facing the stern.

Pike and still good to eat. Do them up in a deer batter . Yummy!

also, you guys should try some sun gloves - they ROCK against bugs too! just the tips of my fingers exposed...and they tuck up under my sleeves or my bug shirt (those are amazing, love mine!)

Did a trip there with the family 5-6 years ago and caught several 30+ inch pike trolling from the canoes in 15-30 feet of water off the shoreline with crankbaits. Like them or not, the pike have been in Booth Lake for a long time and this wasn't our first trip there with our kids and my daughter was 11 at the time and I've caught them in there on trips before we had kids.

Booth and kitty lake are filled with aggressive pike. I’ve gone to the ranger cabin three time in 2016 and 2017 and caught tones of pike and the odd bass. I think the pike ate them all....
@NorthernScavenger6 жыл бұрын
We have been hearing mixed stories of fishing successes but there have been a lot of positive experiences. Must have been the weather or we were just not throwing the right things
@alainpatoine36186 жыл бұрын
Northern Scavenger the fishing in that area is great... just not for trout. My son and his friend the last time we were out that way got into over 20 pike in a couple of days which is a lot considering that quite a few storms blew through the area so we weren't on the water as much as we wanted.
@NorthernScavenger6 жыл бұрын
Yeah we will need to head back again to have round two against the pike and bass.

nice video... tamarack is quite common in the park.. I think the tree u id as "spruce" was actually a balsam fir... just sayin'

I love that area of the park, I have a couple videos I've done of trips over there. I've had more success fishing on Shirley and Ryan Lakes, though I was targeting trout.

Do you guy's like the Pike over Trout ? They will destroy everything...The park will be troutless

Hi guys. We are planning a trip to booth lake next year and I could not find those jackets with integrated mosqito protection online. What brand or model is that? I obviously need one of those!

The is the original bug shirt company. If you Google that name you can order online! Great product

When did APP lift the ban on bottles & cans ???
@NorthernScavenger6 жыл бұрын
No there is still a ban on bottles and cans. I understand the bottles part and we don't ever bring glass on a trip but cans I never understood. We always chance it and if a ranger were to stop we would just hope they would let us off when they see that we bring an extra garbage bag just to take other people's trash out. Still a risk for sure.

Hmmm... what’s the fine again for taking cans into the park?
@NorthernScavenger6 жыл бұрын
Yes this is something that we really struggle with. It bothers me that the park needs to put these rules into effect but we usually still take the chance because we always bring out more garbage then we take in. My hope is that explaining that to a ranger and showing them the extra garbage bag filled with stuff that is not ours, will make them give us a break. If not, it might be worth the fine for a beer lol. We never take glass in with us because if it were to break, there is no way to guarantee that you got all the glass. Always need to leave the sites better then you found them. Cheers

Unless your a logger then nothing applies to then 🙄

Men the bugs really suck, how come you didn't eat the pike?
@NorthernScavenger6 жыл бұрын
We had enough food on the trip already so we didn't feel the need to eat it. When we were on our Wabakimi trip last summer we packed a lot of carbs (sidekicks/rice cups) with the intention of catching fish to eat. In this case we figured we might as well let him go so he can grow.
