Thanks for sharing your trip. Funny I was just looking at the map the other day and was wondering about this route. Nice to be able to view it all. If you don't mind I had a couple of questions: 1)Do you recommend spring time only for this type of trip? (High water levels) Also have you ever looked at the campsites at Birchcliffe are the decent? Reason why I ask as I'm largely a solo canoeist as much as I think the cabin is super cool. Not sure if I'd rent it just for myself.

This trip is doable any time of year. The higher water levels did have their advantages though. The campsites on the lake are not very nice at all. 1 of them I wouldn't even stay on. We have done this route the end of summer and it was quite enjoyable as well. Given the option if you don't want the cabin I would stay on Calm lake over Birchcliffe for campsites.

Yeah we counted ourselves extremely lucky this trip. Never had them like this before. Not only the numbers but how relaxed they were with us. We did keep a safe distance and tried not to disturb them. We stayed at Birchcliffe for 3 days a few yrs back and did not see any on the lake.

Yeah, last time through we saw 8 total, but this time the sightings were amazing! We were blessed for sure!
