Thanks, @Algovibes, for the great content as always. One remark though: If you simply bought BTC in the beginning of Jan. 2023 and sold today, you would have gotten a +130% return. So, most parameter choices in this example actually were worse than simply holding BTC throughout the year. It would be interesting to back test this in other types of market conditions in addition to a clear bull market.

Unfortunately, most of the (algorithmic) trading strategies shown on KZbin are a waste of time and money. The profits sound good at first, but hardly any strategy beats the simple buy and hold strategy. Almost no one bothers to compare the backtest against buy and hold, which is a willful or negligent omission if you want to test serious strategies.

@@franky12 It sounds like you make a fair point, but let me exaggerate to make mine. You invest and have your money on the market for 6 months to make 130% profit. I trade, and have my money on the market for 1 month over that 6 month period, and make 110% profit. Which is the best trade? I'd pick the least riskiest for my money. I'm a trader, not an investor - buy and hold is investing, not trading. By comparing the two - without mentioning risk - you are comparing apples to oranges?

First of all thanks mate! I am usually doing a benchmark comparison in about 95% of my videos but I simply cannot cover everything in every single video. However In this case I am with x-raf. For a bullet proof test of the strategy you have to analyze the holding period of the asset (I am mentioning that in the course of the video) and see what's the real exposure during 2023. Let's say I made 2 trades and only hold for 3 days (as an example) and generated 75% of the BTC return. With B&H you would be exposed 365 days instead to generate a bit more profit. As mentioned in the video you would need to dive deeper into which trades would have been made and how those trades look in details.

Thank you. But I think you are wrong. You don't consider if the price hits stoploss firstly inside the one candle, and after goes to the takeprofit level. In this scenario you are getting profit.

❤❤ it looks like interesting, but strategy works well for year 2023, 2021 when btc went up globaly. For year 2022 it is bad strategy. How to implement some trend checker? And make buy contract only if trend is somehow and use angle of trend could be interesting as well. Don’t think?
