The hackers didn't hack into Apex servers they hacked the streamers' computers and forced them to use the programs. Deleting the VODs protects the players since everyone knows already that hacking is possible in Apex and pretty much in any game.

These guys already had them installed. The "hacker" just got access to their PC and probably sent a command to load up the cheat menu and to turn on ESP and aimbot. Not that hard to do. This whole, they hacked their PC's installed software and made them run the cheats is BS. Even microsoft defender would put a stop to an attack like that. Do these guys not run 3rd party antivirus software? Those who cheat usually don't since it will interfere with the cheat software.

@@iGame2A If you have ports open during time you have vulnerable service(s) running in those connections there is nothing you can do to stop the attack because there is nothing suspicious that a service is running "normally". EAC is a service that cannot be ahead of things and can only blacklist things instead of preventing the new. So new hacks cannot be detected. Microsoft Defender is the same, it is to be constantly updated to not something happen which already happened to another machine. It just prevents attacks which have been reported by someone. That being said it only needs one malware to run up a script in same space as another running app to do whatever. Edit: As I addition as I have watched these streamers, they just randomly open games as Administrator because they think the game works better that way, which also means that the malware that is used in 'process injection' has permissions too.

A good anticheat would be very invasive to your privacy. And could lead to future rights being challenged in court. This is not a can of worms we want to open up. The only real solution at this time is to hire a cybersecurity team to patch up any current exploits in the security. But any good hacker will always breach this security if they truly wanted to lukily these types of hackers are interested in other things. What the guy did today could be recreated by anyone with decent knowledge in programing. Not really hacking.

But this is extremely easy to prevent even if the anticheat runs on kernel level because the vast majority of cheats are running on kernel level too. So it only prevents script kiddies from copy/pasting code from youtube. With this being practically useless the only thing left is detecting the signature of known cheats running in the system. For doing this you do not need to run on kernel level. Riot does a really good job at keeping their signatures up to date which is why their anticheat is better than most others.

You have to reset the entire day because you don’t know if the hacker helped others without them knowing. The hacker tainted the whole day. You can trust that he only did it to Hal and Gen. Respawn has to fix what they can and let everyone start over. At least give them the peace of mind of knowing that Respawn tried to fix something and everyone should be on equal playing field now. But if the hacker shows up again then you might have to cancel this years ALGS until EA can give us 100% certainty that they committed to fixing their anti cheat

Hackers will always get past anti cheats. People rave about Vanguard but there's really nothing special about it. The key factor is Riot has more employees for dealing with cheaters, hence why they usually get banned fast manually.

@@chy.0190 Vanguard is most def "special". The difference is most of these anti-cheats are server-sided. However, Vanguard is a kernel that stays on a PC 24/7 in your deepest element. Riot does not manual ban faster then anyone else, there just is a low number of competitive cheaters since vanguard is so quick to be fixed. This is just knowing how to actually manage an anti-cheat. Same with FACEIT on CS2/CS, since its a kernel in the pc, cheating is worlds harder. @@flyxss3234 LAN stands for Local Area Network. LAN machines are not connected to the internet. Or at least, they shouldn't need to be, and it would defeat the purpose to an extent (of course one part of it is the live audience, but another important part of a LAN eSport event is the zero latency, which wouldn't be happening if the server isn't on the same network as the clients. And players would notice immediately if that wasn't the case.)

You are bit off if you think this is only about cheating. The players' computers got hacked and forced to use cheats. It has nothing to do with the game, all games have issues with hackers because by nature how computing works. The point is that everyone should understand what ports and protocols are and make sure there are no malwares on your computer.
