In opsec we say zero day to refer to exploits that allow attackers to gain root access, usually to a server, but in this case a personal OS. The whole tournament is compromised, there was crazy lag, and players disconnecting. Unless EA can prove it wasn't the hacker causing this the tournament needs restarted.

this kind of thing actually happened before in DarkSouls series. - in those games, players' clients send game data packages between each other, but those data packages were not checked so if one hacked his package, made it way longer than normal package, when someone else recieved this package, the extended length will overflow to outside of the correct memory, with this overflow, the hacker can do memory injection, and in theory run anything on the victim's computer. (rumor said that some troll even wiped one poor guy's entire windows os with this) then DarkSouls online servers were shut down for a very long time in order to fix it. - if apex has the same problem, (i can't be sure but it looks like it) it may be a good thing the hacker just want to mess with streamers. because he (could) be able to own each and every computer which runs apex for good, to steal everything and/or delete everything.

The only big wake up call for Apex will be when everyone moves on to a better game. One that has similar mechanics and okay style but with better devs that actually listen to their none shit players. One that doesn’t have the same bugs since season 0, one that doesn’t nerf the characters and decide that they are indecisive and rebuff them.

@@teejay1646 then tell us how it works pls. you think they can easily install anything through apex server and steam/origin updates packed in the game files or the anti cheat? there are so many things which can block u from doing this and you literally leave traces if u do something like this. the easiest and most likely way is that they somehow (clicking on links, etc... or they just had the cheat installed which has rce feature lol) got a malware which granted rce to the hacker, but it has nothing to do with apex. tldr: 1. they got malware 2. not likely through apex ofc we cant be sure, but - "Everyone at this point should just uninstall apex. Everyone is at risk" (apex is compromised) has 1% chance - these players somehow installed malware themselves by their own fault has 99% chance
