I was looking for the MAF sensor plug that was on the air box and accidently said MAP sensor in the video, sorry for the confusion.
I got a lot of questions on removing the wiring harness on a TDI beetle so I decided to make a specific video for them, as well as going over cruise control setups for the ALH. most of this is generic for any ALH wiring harness.

Love all your videos! Thanks for spreading your knowledge and experience. What is the module next to the ECU with the wires going to it? Can I cut the bundle going into that and pull it all out together?
@TDISwaps
@TDISwaps Жыл бұрын
The other black ECU looking module is the transmission controller if it's an automatic, you can cut the wires right before that. If you can save out the MAP sensor wires going that way it's nice but other than that it just gets cut. Glad to help!

The purple/black wire needs 12v ign you said? In the wiring diagrams I see that wire pin 108 on the ecu going to pin 1 on the IP. Also, this video is awesome!!!

Yes the purple/black is the ECU wake up wire so it needs 12v when the key turns on. Glad to help man!

@@TDISwaps ahhhhh okay, that makes sense now. Thanks! I got confused because those wires are the same color but on one its black with purple stripe and the other purple with black stripe. Hard to tell sometimes with such small wires lol

Yes it sure is! I always go back and double check the pinouts to make 100% sure

how would i make a standalone harness for a 1.9 BRM TDI? (out of a 2006 jetta TDI) would it be the same as this harness? thanks!
@TDISwaps

If you check out my BEW harness video that is much closer to the same process, a little more work than the ALH mostly because the glow plugs are not 12v so they must be wired into the ECU and the injectors have their own wiring

Good evening, I just finished my conversion ALH in 2006 ranger, I am a lic tech and have a diesel shop, it runs great and everything is working as it should except I can’t connect to the ecu with VCDS or my mppv to change map. But My snap on d10 connects and I can monitor data etc. I have the grey and white k line pin 16 wired to the obd port, do I need to have the orange pairs can hi/lo wired in also ?
@TDISwaps
@TDISwaps Жыл бұрын
It should only need the gray/white k line to connect, hard to say what this issue is but all those tools should be connecting through the k line.

Interesting, it should be working since my snap on is.. I’ll mess around with jt more tomorrow. Thanks for your quick reply, great channel. Also curious if your running a flex pipe in exhaust system ? Feels like lots of vibration at idle and almost feels like some is from exhaust system

could you show hooking up the oem mk4 cruise stalk to the wires from the ecu?
@TDISwaps
@TDISwaps Жыл бұрын
I would have to pull one out to check for sure, but there should just be the 4 worries I identified in the video (BLK/WHT, RED, BLU/GRY, and WHT) plus one other power wire that goes to the stalk.

Not exactly, my BEW wiring video would be your closest bet for that. PD engines have special fuel injector and glow plug wiring.

So you can still have cruise control on these swaps even with a manual?
@TDISwaps
@TDISwaps Жыл бұрын
At least with the ALH ECU, there are only a few inputs needed to have functioning drive by wire push button cruise control just like the car had. Once the newer CAN BUS wiring went into the TDIs it is much more complicated
