@@tonyem4753 according to ahlul sunnah wa jama'a. The event occurred because some Yemeni Muslims were upset with ali because of some war loot. So muhammad (saw) wanted to "ease tensions" by saying "just as I am your mawla (friend) this ali is also your mawla (friend)" I reject that premise entirely. If rasool Allah (saw) wanted to ease tensions with the Yemenis, then he would address the Yemenis. He wouldn't gather all these Muslims who are not even involved in the matter, just to say hey guys ali is my friend. Its nonsense. On the 18th day of Dhul-Hujjah, rasool Allah (saww) gather thousands upon thousands of Muslims, muhammad (saww) then grabs Ali ibn abi talibs hand, and raises it high and said the famous lines "fa ma kuntum mowla fa hatha ali mowla" to whomever I was their master, this ali is also their master. Notice kuntum, is an Arabic word that translates to "I was" or "I were" meaning past-tense. Rasool Allah (saww) said before the sermon, "I am about to leave dunya." Indicating that it was revealed to him that he was soon going to pass away. This is all in sunni sources. Also mind you abu bakr and umar, along with many other sahabis congratulated ali after the announcement. I don't think they congratulated him because he was announced a friend.

Therefore, it isn`t permissible to impeach or belittle them for they are, indeed, the best of the best. Allah, The Almighty, said, "And the first to lead the way, of the Muhajirin and the Ansar, and those who followed them in goodness - Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him, and He hath made ready for them Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever. That is the supreme triumph."{At-Tawbah, 100}. In fact, saying "May Allah be pleased with him', "May Allah forgive him" or "May Allah have mercy upon him" is a prayer included within righteous deeds. it is not a sunnah of rasoolullah s.a.w to say r.a after the sahabahs names (all of them) rather it is Desirable for you to say. however saying s.a.w is a Sunnah as the famous hadith, of jibreel a.s saying "curse be upon those that do not say s.a.w after the name muhammed" and the prophet replied "ameen. please show me an authentic hadith of the ummah being told to say s.a.w after Ali R.a name and I will change my veiw. may Allah bless you.

After reading some of the comments, I think, it’s better to avoid controversial topics and rank people but if I would have to rank I wouldn’t rank them the same way, but that said, I wouldn’t be disrespectful in the comments section though I do not endorse everything said here but the lecture was good and very eloquent. Thanks! Unfortunately, the information of the dear Mufti is incomplete. If Ali accepted the caliphate of Abu Bakr with such enthusiasm, then what is the story of Saqifa? What was the reason for the war between Aisha and Ali? Why was Hussein, the son of the Prophet, beheaded by the next caliphs? With the removal of Ali, the supporters of the three caliphs caused the caliphate to return to the Abu Sufyan family and the polytheist family.

because of some misunderstandings, Ali (ra) definitely supported Uthman (ra) but some "shi'ites" were against Uthman (ra) because they believed that Ali (ra) should be appointed the caliph, now obviously Ali (ra) himself did not think like the shi'ites think he (ra) did. Ali (ra) even himself offered that he could send 500 companions to Uthman (ra) so Uthman had an army to kill those people (who were against Uthman RA). please understand that Ali (ra) was never against Abu Bakr (ra), Umar (ra) and, Uthman (ra). this is all a discord created later on.

The prophet (pbuh) wanted Ali to be the leader, he grew up in his house, he accepted to sleep in his bed when people were coming to kill him, he was the first to accept Islam, he was the prophets (pbuh) warrior he’s the only one that didn’t turn his back on him in the battle field, he got married to the daughter of the prophet (pbuh) i can go on and on with sahih reasons that the prophet (pbuh) wanted Ali to be the leader but he didn’t fight it because he didn’t have a big enough following even tho he was the greatest Muslim after the prophet (pbuh) so he patiently waited

Ibrahim Al-Khalil (PBUH) asked God Almighty to show him how to revive the dead? God gave him, and with his permission, the ability to revive four birds! This extraordinary behavior of reviving dead birds is evidence of Abraham's enjoyment of the formative mandate. Thus Jesus (pbuh) has a formative mandate: such as reviving the dead, creating birds out of mud without reproduction, breathing the soul into birds made of clay, and healing the blind and the leper. She says: The universe does not run and only God Almighty controls it: It is true that only God Almighty does not manage the universe and does not control it (autonomously, rich and independent). But the angels also, with the permission of God Almighty, poverty, and the need for God Almighty, and by gaining from God Almighty, they manage some of the affairs of this universe (so controlling matters is) And Imam Ali (pbuh) is better than the angels. These are matters that need explanation and clarification. You imagine that Imam Ali (PBUH) who is the same Prophet (PBUH) with the text of the verse of the Mubālah (Ourselves and Yourself). Perhaps you have forgotten that Imam Ali (PBUH) is the justice of the Qur’an with the text of the hadith of al-Thaqilayn (The Book of God and my family are my family, and they will not separate) And in the text of the Prophet (PBUH) (Ali is with the Qur’an and the Qur’an with Ali, and they will not separate) God Almighty said: If only a Quran she was walked by

I appreciate your effort but this rank is not of superiority it’s the hierarchy of caliphs who were chosen by people influenced by the circumstances of that time as when abubakar ra became the first caliph Ali wasn’t even in the election because he was tending to prophet’s body as all sahabas were fighting over who would succeed him the family of prophet was by his side. Because of this Ali didn’t pledge fealty to abubakar until 6 months when abubkar apologised to himself source sahih bukhari and muslim. During the time of second caliph abubkar chose Omer ra to lead and there was no election during the time of third usman ra and Ali ra were given conditions to which usman agreed and Ali didn’t so usman became the next caliph where does it say that caliphs were chosen bc of their superiority? Even sahabas never compared themselves to the family of prophet bc they thought of them as their superiors even hassan and hussein ra were treated as superiors then why won’t his father? According to ahmad bin hambal Ali had nore virtues than any sahaba and according to him no sahaba should be compared to him since he is from the family of prophet and after that abubakr ra is superior over other companions then omer then usman but not over Ali. We should be neutral not driven by sectarianism.

Thats true Akhi…Imam Ali (a) married Asma bint Umays (ra) who was a widow of Abu Bakr…but let me clear this…prior to marrying Abu Bakr she married Ja’afar e Tayyar (a) and who was Ja’afar (a)?? The beloved brother of Imam Ali (a) and Rasoolallah (saww)…when Ja’afar (a) got martyred Abu Bakr married her
