Great lecture by Mufti Menk. I belong to a Sunni household. But I have mad love for the Ahlul Bayt. Hazrat Ali was one of the dearest ones to our beloved prophet Muhammad (pbuh,),. I don't know why some Sunnis are against Shiites and vice versa. It's a big misunderstanding and people fail to search for the truth. If following Sunnat is called Sunni, than Hazrat Ali was the biggest Sunni. If loving Hazarat Ali is called Shia, than Rasul E Khuda was the biggest Shia. Think about that for a minute. We are all One ummah regardless, we have one holy book, and most of all we have one God, Allah swt. Peace be upon all of you my brothers and sisters.

Great to listen Mufti Menk speaking on the life of Ali ibn abu talib, he very well defined the character and life of Ali r.a right from birth to death. It would have been great if he had added what Muhammad saw said about Ali r.a at Ghadeer e Khum and he also forgot to mention that Ali was amongst ahlul bait, a distinction that only Ali r.a had among other companions of Muhammad saw. and Allah knows the best .

Me to bro. As Muslims we shouldn't insult anyone. Have you read the Nahj al-Balagha? You can learn more about the politics of the Sunni-Shia split from Ali's (a.s) perspective from that book. As much as muffti Menk is knowledgeable, I doubt he has read it. Because his version of events are quite 1 sided in my opinion, but that doesn't mean I think he is a bad person or anything, quite the opposite really. I have been reading and listening to bits of it recently.

Don’t be apologetic for something they slander you with. We the Shia’s of Prophet & his holy household never commit shirk. God forbid. Its their master’s lies & hypocrisy to keep them away from talking to the lovers and followers of Ahlulbayt. We have simple understanding of religion we follow the prophet and his holy household we don’t look for guidance anywhere else. When two companion fight we don’t simply silence the matter by saying “All of them are right and are like stars” we point out who was right and who was wrong wether someone likes it or not. If you say you truly love Imam Ali AS then learn about Ahel Bayt from their own lens and read what they had to say and don’t just take in what people feed you. Read Imam Ali’s sermons from NAHJUL BALAGHA and you will know how he truly felt when his right of succeeding our beloved Prophet (saws) was taken away. Do you really think our Prophet (saws) left this word without announcing his successor when every other single prophet in history announced a successor after him, selected by Allah? Allah gave us logic and common sense to be able to question things that don’t make any sense. Look into these issues that you are not told about and subhan Allah the truth will come out. Research these topics from all sources. 1. Abo Tableb was a believer in monotheism and was the protector of the Prophet right from the beginning. Do you seriously think that Abo Taleb died as a non believer or was this falsified by a certain Kalif to attack the Image of Imam Ali AS. You claim to love Imam Ali AS then study his own words about his father rather then what you are told. 2. Imam Ali born in the holly Kaaba after Allah swt opened it for the Imam’s mother and closed it for 3 days and no one could enter. Allah fed the Imam’s mother from Janah food and send her glad tidings. I should really stop there but will continue for the love of our Prophet (pbuh) and his family. 3. Did our Prophet announce Imam Ali AS as his successor and why did the Prophet say I leave you with the Quran and Ahel Bayt, hold onto them and you will never go astray. This is in Sunni literature as well as Shia. Why do our Sunni brothers tell their youth that the prophet said he left the Quran and his Sunah? This cannot be found in any Shia or Sunni books and is not authentic 4. Why did our Prophet instruct Imam Ali to remain patient after the Prophet’s passing away and warned him about what will happen 5. How could Abo Baker and co hold an election during the burial of the Prophet the simply pass it to the second Kalif WOW contradictions all over the place. 6. What was the cause of Fatimah’s (daughter’s prophet) death and why did Fatima die angry with Abo Baker? 7. Deep dive into the battle of Jamal. Why did Aisha fight Imam Ali who was a Kalif at the time. According to Sunni laws those that fight their Kalif are kafir and commitment treason. 8. Deep dive into the battle of Siffin Ali vs Muawiyah. Again fighting a Kalif. 9. How did Imam Hassan AS die? 10. How did Imam Hussein and his entire family (peace be upon them) die. 11. Look outside of Shia literature (such as Sunnah.org) and you will see authentic Hadith from the Prophet (pbuh) saying that our savior Imam Mahdi will be from the decedent of his beloved daughter Fatima AS. It’s all there. And finally why are the Shia portrayed as extreme lovers of Imam Ali AS? When there is a group that called him God (ist5far Allah). The group that called Imam Ali God are the extreme lovers, the Shia are in the middle right with the Prophet (pbuh) and we know who the haters are... the ones that fought Imam Ali and his family as all his life... I am a proud Shia and I love my Sunni brothers and all I ask is for the truth to come out and Imam Ali as is given his right as the successor of the Prophet as instructed by Allah swt and his Prophet (pbuh). We can’t ignore the truth anymore as Allah one day will question us on this.

Abu Bakr ra, Omar ra, Uthman ra, Ali ra. All were sahabahs - the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the all had great bond and respect for each other. The Prophet (PBUH) said to love them all just like how you love the Prophet (PBUH), and not to hate any of his companions because that would mean you are hating on the Prophet (PBUH) too. Assalamu Alleykum to my fellow Sunni brothers, such a beautiful speech by our brother, but i would like to add some things that are missing and just point out one misunderstanding I noticed within the speech. 1. Imam Ali (A.s) was born in the purest of place which is within Kaaba. 2. The story of Imam Ali (A.s) accepting the prophet message goes like this, when the religion of Islam was introduced prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.S) was instructed to preach it silently because of the idol worshippers, after some time the prophet (S.A.W.S) was instructed to invite his close families to islam, so one night the prophet (S.A.W.S) invited his uncles including Ali (A.S) dad Abutalib. The prophet (S.A.W.S) preaches the message of islam in front of them mentioning that they know the prophet as a man of truth ( because he was known as "Siddiq" ) but they wont accept his message. So the prophet mentions that whoever from them accepts his message now will be the prophets successor in the future, none of the prophet (S.A.W.S) uncles accepts, so then Ali (AS) then comes in bravely and accepts Islam. Then the prophet announced that Ali (AS) that night that Ali (A.S) is going to be Islams future successor. 3. Imam Ali (A.S) gets killed due to the poisoning of a sword that was struck by an enemy while in sujood.

Ali wasnt just a companion he was the first one to accept Islam him and Khadija He grew up in the houshold of the prophet and He was his Cousin and he Is from Ahlul bayt and his uncle Is Lion of God Hamza, And Hes sons are sayida shababi Ahlul janna And his wife Is fatima Mother of this umma And Hussain chief of the martyrs And His son abbas the mountain. This is only 2% of Alis great qualities The prophet Says Iam the city of knowledge and Ali is the door to it. Dont even compare the Sahaba To Imam Ali Because they arent even close to him.

​@@shamsnawabi Salam brother, the Prophets had to have miracles at their times to make the people believe in Allah (god) because that's how lost society was. Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) miracle was the Quraan and that he wasn't taught to read or write the knowledge was acquired from Allah. So when it comes to Imam Ali A.S and every Imam after and till this day, there is no need for our society to have to see a "miracle" performed by a prophet or imam or whoever to believe that there is no God but one. We have acquired so much knowledge through studies and science its pretty obvious that there has to be a master of plans behind all the perfection in the universe. We are honored to be in existence with the Quraan being available to us today, Im not gonna bring up hadeeths we believe in here becuase anyone can tell me that they're lies and whatever but look at the FACTS that we ALL believe in. Imam Ali A.S was born in the KAABA, no other human being on the face of the planet was blessed with this. Allah does not randomly choose who is born in the kaaba. On Eid Al-Ghadeer which us Shia celebrate, the prophet appointed Imam Ali A.S as his right hand man and the one to be the caliph after, because no one showed allegiance like Imam Ali did NO ONE stood by him like he did, the prophet CHOSE HIM to be in his bed when the enemies were plotting for his death. On that day everyone there that was a witness gave bay3a (allegiance) to Imam Ali A.S only to be betrayed shortly after. So basically when Omar was the caliph this is a straight attack against what he promised and agreed to the prophet. Imam ALi only became a caliph after people were fed up with the bad practices of the caliphs at the time and were BEGGING for Ali to return. When Ali returned and was the caliph he fairness to all did suit the people that were previously in power well. Remember it takes patience, courage, and strong faith to let go of worldly desires which the Prophets and Imam had complete control over, nothing in this world that materialistic ever fazed them. These are some of the reasons as to why we see them on a completely different level than the rest of the prophet's companions. Just because Abu Baqr and Omar were around the Prophet isnt enough, many betrayed him, many used him to gain acceptance from the people. Look into what they did AFTER his death. Look at what to Ahlul Bayt who are descendants of the prophet they are FROM HIS BLOOD. Imam Al Hussein's A.S death and the story of Ashouraa send WAVES across the world till this day. This is a MIRACLE how someone that dies 1400 years ago is still sending such a strong message. To stand against injustice even if it means our death. If we can't live in peace than we must stand and fight for it no matter what the consequences are. Believers and non believers learn from the many lessons of Ashouraa. Its is SO SAD to see many Sunni followers completely ignore this historic time. And some believe this day is celebration. How SAD how can the death of the Prophet's Grandson be in ANYWAY a celebration?!?! My brothers and sisters of humanity I urge you all to just listen to the story of Ashouraa and what Imam Al-Hussein gave up just to save the religion of Islam and subhanalla. Till this day his death sends a message to all. Believer or non believers. Please do all kinds of research and don't limit yourself to a single school of thought or believe do your research and feel what is right to you I'm sure if you truly seek this Allah will make the answer clear believe me. Although i was born into a Shia family my parents were strict, they actually enrolled me in a Sunni school as my first school here in the USA, my parents believed in whatever they believed in but never forced it upon me instead they gave me the trust and guidance to make my own decisions and to learn for my self. And i am so happy to be where I am today because i know why I am proud to be a follower of Ahlul-Bayt because there truly is not other better example blessed upon by Allah :)

Shias love Allah s.w.t, love the Prophet p.b.u.h. and love Imam Ali a.s. We dont worship Ali stop this stereotype. We are Muslims who reject the first three caliphates thats all. You dont have to say we worship one caliphate just because we love him more than the others. If you have four, we have one. We ask Allah in the name of the Prophet and his household p.b.u.t. to grant us our wishes. That is all there is to it. No kufir no shirk just Iman all day everyday :)
