You, I or anyone else actually can't do anything and I think it's a relatively dangerous idea to get into people's heads. It doesn't take into account all the factors that are outside of our control. For example, can you truly say that someone who was born in a bad environment can do "anything" the same way as someone who had a good upbringing? Thinking you can do anything is a sure way to disappointment with your life because you would also have to think that your success as well as your misfortune are completely within your control, and that's simply not true.

I am avoiding debt , saving and investing around 40 percent of my income. I have a high paying engineering job, and I live upstate NYC. since covid 19 my expenses became extremely low. I have zero debt on a 7 figure portfolio, low rent and car paid off. So i can just save. feel lucky and grateful my fiduciary came into play.

Without trying to intellectualise the idea of financial freedom, to me it simply means you have no worries about paying your bills, have enough savings for rainy days, live a comfortable and decent lifestyles (nothing posh or elaborate), fancy meals once a while, travels to nice places once a year and able to do daily activities without penny pinching myself and worrying whether I would be able to afford it or and not be in bad debts. That's financial freedom to me anyway. p/s: Love your videos Ali

Really like the advice and the reading list recommendation! 👍 regarding the last point on toxic productivity and hustle culture, I just want to say that last yr when I was very passionate abt achieving financial freedom and building passive income, I was very on. I want thru tones of different books while communting. But despite that, there will always be a time when the tiredness catches up to you. Sooner Or later. Ultimately I think everyone should find a comfortable balance. Ppl are not robots. It's ok to spend some time doing smth that makes you happy 😊

Dear Ali, what a wonderful 40 plus minutes I spent listening to your video while doing household chores. I am a stay at home mom for 2 small children. My brother who is a Doc too in India, introduced me to your channel. And this particular video was the affirmation I needed for today. I listen to Audible on double the speed when I want to learn about something but I always tend to avoid books related to money because I am scared of never making it big. But now I am committed to break out of my comfort zone and try these books. Thank you so much for your channel and your recommendations. Also your channel is such a great listen to homemakers too. At the beginning of the video, I didn't expect that I would be able to watch it until the end, but it happened. I offer my sincere thanks for this video, Ali. What you said at the end of the video “The goal of financial freedom is not financial freedom, it’s choosing a goal that you feel it’s worthwhile and working towards it while enjoying the journey” it’s so true! Let’s assume we get there we know the knowledge and the paths we can take and everything, maybe a harder question comes, “I want to use this knowledge on the thing that i ENJOY doing, learning about it, working for it for the rest of my life” I know passion comes from exposure, exploration and effort. I know i can’t find my passion while sitting and i need to take action to explore. But sometimes i feel i need a clear path to start with to explore. I would be so appreciated if you share your advice and make a video about this!

I think it is incredibly helpful, regardless of whether financial freedom is the ultimate goal or not and it has got me considering my current view of my life and goals. I'm sorry, kids or no kids, job or no job, if you can't find time to read a book (or listen to a book/podcast), you are just CHOOSING not to read/listen. I have 2 kids, a FT job, side projects, kids' school activities, 3-4 different sports, scouts, and other family/life obligations and I ALWAYS find/make time to read and listen to podcasts. I might not be as successful as I want to be (ie i still work 9-5 and desperately want to monetize one of my projects), but there is ALWAYS 30-60 minutes in a day one can find to read/learn/listen to something that will benefit them. Many just choose not to....just like I choose not to EXECUTE the things I learn from these books/podcasts that could have made me financially free from my 9-5 many times over. We all struggle with something, but usually we are just making excuses to mask our failure. EDIT: Great video btw!

When Ali was talking about surrounding yourself with people that have similar goals, it dawned on me that although I don’t have friends around me that want similar things, I am very focused on my goals because of the family I come from and the content I consume online. For example I binge Ali’s content all the time. His videos have helped me in understanding a lot when it comes to growing on KZbin and becoming financially free. He always points out the things I’m doing wrong without even talking to me. 😂

My favorite time to listen to podcasts and audiobooks is while I'm cutting the grass and doing other yardwork. That gives me 4-5 hours a week to consume information. I listened to this entire video while cutting the grass today. I've about had it with my financial situations and I'm taking the steps to correct it. I will be getting "Millionaire Fastlane" and "Million Dollar Weekend." This was a great listen today. Thanks Ali!

Not sure how intentional this was, but this is a great title for this video. Got me way more intrigued than something like " the key to financial freedom" I think the key words honest advice made me think popular advice on this topic isn't given honestly but this video will deliver it honestly and uniquely on things I haven't considered. At the very least, I now grasp the concept of leverage. Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Building wealth and remaining financially stable indefinitely is a lot easier with the appropriate information. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely.

Strange that for years, I thought a stable full time secure job was what I wanted…. And I got it… then the toxicity at work started with a new boss… then covid… and my mental health (and physical health) took a nose dive because of the said perfect job. Within a year and a half, I decided to put my well-being first. After a series of events and plan A not working out, I decided to return to a city I had lived in before the”perfect” job and take on part-time free lance work. I unintentionally and unknowingly followed the gps model. Now, I only work 15 hours a eeek…. enough to live the life I want, and have a few hundred dollars of savings. I spend the rest of my time, taking care of myself. This is my idea of financial freedom.

What I didn’t realise until getting older was that I can earn 6 figures far quicker than owning my own business. We put business owners on a pedistol. A small minority make it to 6 figures or more. A larger minority make 6 figures employed.

The amount of information here in 43 min is massive. He covers everything from psychology, planning, to actions. He really makes a good blueprint for what actions to take. He touches on the environment and how it's important to immerse yourself with like-minded people, whether virtually or physically. I like the conclusion he made and his advice to 'play the infinite game'.

What I observe, is all of these financial wellness influencers have in common that they are all exceptionally intelligent. This intelligence is the reason they are able to make money, seemingly effortlessly. In fact, intelligence is the single biggest variable that determines worldly success of this kind. This intelligence is uncommon. Watching videos on it will not enable anyone not similarly gifted to do the same thing, or anything close. They are selling success, but the most critical element of their own success can't be sold. Intelligence is a trait we're born with. It's like a super model hawking face cream with the implied promise that you'll look as good as she does if you buy and use it.

you can naturally be more intelligent than others but learning new things and such is also a skill. you can learn as much or as little as you want. I refuse to believe anyone is smarter than anyone else - some people just absorb information quicker and are more disciplined, but everyone can learn a skill and work on said skill to become good at it, it may just take longer for others

Your belief about intelligence doesn't change the fact, accepted by decades of research conducted all over the world, that basic intelligence is a trait that we inherit. It's not a virtue, just a trait. Like eye color, for example. It also happens to be a trait that gives people a massive advantage in succeeding in a worldly sense. The reason this matters is that when we know this to be true we stop assigning all kinds of virtue to people who are successful. They don't work harder than others. They aren't better people, they were just born with an advantageous trait. And moreover, this thing that they have cannot be learned. Someone telling you their methods for succeeding on youtube won't give you or me or anyone else the real stuff that enabled them to become so successful. These are facts that have been proven by research over and over. So again, you are entitled to your own beliefs and your own opinions, but you don't get your own facts.

I personally think it’s “perspective” which also helps build “contentment”. If you don’t have the perspective to appreciate your position financially against what is truly important to you, then you won’t know how to adjust your habits to create the life you want. Contentment doesn’t help you deal with the habits that build strong purpose, but “perspective” does…

I used to be a very ambitious person (that "used-to-be" was 1 month ago 😆) until one moment when I felt totally burnt out and all of a sudden I felt all the goals I set for myself were b***shit. If working towards a goal destroys my life then I'd rather not having any goals and enjoy my life day by day.

I don't believe in passive income. Nothing lasts forever, so you will always need to learn, revise strategies, start a new business etc. The world can pull the rug out from under you I've seen it happen to many people with existing "income streams".

I have £5m (50% invested in commercial property and 50% invested in the global market). Passive income does exist, I’m living proof. I was raised on a council estate, plus I have dyslexia and Asperger’s. I failed all my GCSEs too. Even if the stock market drops 50% I can still survive.
