Ali, I experienced the same conversion to freshly roasted, freshly ground (with a good grinder) coffee just less than 2 years ago. Once you've tasted greatness, and understand why it's so great, you never want to go back to not-so-great. Rather quite the opposite. I've found myself only wanting to explore more to find even more super great coffees. Hah! I'm even roasting coffee at home! (I really like super fresh roasted coffee!)

My notes of this video with timestamp. 00:32 This video is all about the most productive way to brew an incredible cup of coffee every morning Part 1 - The Grinder 01:47 That's good the asaya usb c rechargeable scales my god the world i mean it's you know my god everything has to be usb c 01:53 s a misting bottle and a fancy water filter because london's water bland tasting kind of coffee , kinda muddy 02:47 The tasting 02:39 Next up james took me through a taste testing process to find the exact type of coffee that i like and there's a bunch of different factors that go into creating the perfect cup of coffee. 02:55 So when we're doing a comparative tasting the easiest thing to do is pick an attribute yeah uh and it can be a very simple attribute like bitterness it can be an attribute like acidity and then just compare a to b b to c just one at a time. 03:30 So the interesting thing about coffee or anything really is that the hotter it is the harder it is to taste. 03:39 But as they begin to cool down a little bit they'll get easier and easier to taste. 06:10 The Brew 06:07 After we worked out what a perfect cup of coffee tastes like for me james took me through his brewing technique which includes having the correct electric coffee grinder instead of buying pre-ground coffee and water filtration so you pick some coffee. 08:26 Using the grinder 08:50 Smell after grinding 09:18 so what we're gonna do this is gonna be the weird bit so we're gonna put the water in first that's weird okay and then we'll put coffee in yeah i'm gonna stir it yep leave it steep for a little bit yeah and then we're nearly done okay so 300 300 mils. 09:46 So when you brew coffee this way it's called an infusion or an immersion brew 10:28 You've got a lot of things to get through in the morning routine so this is a yeah it might take four minutes in total but you're active for like 30 seconds here you're not active again for a couple of minutes quick stir 11:43 Please Reload/Refresh this tab. 12:04 Good coffee it has a really nice color it's very delicious it's good times all right and that's it and when you're done throw away your paper give the brewer a quick rinse not too much to clean and you're done that's it cleanup's finished . 12:24 I was hoping we could talk a little bit about the finances of this whole setup that we've got going on here yeah um yeah how much is the stuff? I'd do the following: Start with an aeropress (super versatile) or a classic v60 decanter from hario (36€) plus the Boxed Filter Papers (10€), or a cheap moca pot - I went moca pot, aeropress - v60 decanter Then go to a roaster you like and buy coffee there and tell them to grind it for you (they know what grind size you need for which brewer). When you have saved up buy a good handgrinder. 1zpresso or porlex mini (100-160€). The grinder is the last part you want to go cheap, as it is the most important piece (I got the Commandante C40 back then) And also a somewhat good scale with timer function (50€). Until you can afford a scale, get a 10€ digital scale rated up to 2kg from Amazon. Last part is a gooseneck kettle (25-36€) or I guess everyone has an electric kettle at home, that works too in the beginning.
@AG-oj6yj2 жыл бұрын
@@Caffeine.And.Carvings wow! Thank you! I've already started with the aeropress, so I guess I will carry on with that. Thanks so much for all the suggestions, I'm definitely going to try those! Cheers!
@jonipaananen93042 жыл бұрын
I've done aeropress, moca pot, french press and clever dripper. The clever is by far my favorite, and it's cheap. The hardest thing on a budget is a grinder, maybe a used one? I managed to snag a commercial grinder from a cafe that was going out of business for 50€. Otherwise a good manual grinder is manageable.
@Adam-vx6to2 жыл бұрын
@@Caffeine.And.Carvings No, not a porlex mini. That is a terrible grinder priced similarly to MUCH better options. Moka pot too much work for someone starting out and the v60 is to dependable to technique. Aeropress or other immersion plus timemore c2 is the cheapest and best budget.
@Caffeine.And.Carvings2 жыл бұрын
@@Adam-vx6to moka pot is super easy and can be used for espresso like brews until one can afford a real espresso maker. And for what it is I found the porlex quite good, also for the price, but my last check into prices and performance has been 2 years ago. Also one downside of the aeropress is the mass. Moka pot makes two Super strong coffees for 2, v60 can be scaled up. But if we are going super easy and cheap a French press works in a pinch
