Very good tutorial. I had a wetplate image of myself done a few months ago and I'm still amazed at the process. I would recommend anyone to support the artists who do them. This is a great alternative to play around with.

Very well done, Antti. I've experimented with the look. But they're nothing like yours. I'm excited to employ your technique. Looking forward to more tutorials. (Your English is impeccable.)

Of course one has to see how and what this is printed on...to match the uniqueness of this process!

The closest attempt I've seen so far that mimics wet plate. Couple of things: The motion blur has GOT to go. Tell me, if the subject has moved as part of a long exposure, how is it possible that one part of the head stays sharp, while the rest is blurred? The original depth of field looked better untouched. And as for adding film grain...wet plate is a virtually grainless process. Leave it out.

Late to this but I'd probably suggest a gaussian blur instead of motion.

Very nice! Where did you find the metal leaking and rust layers that you overlayed on your photo? Did you create them from scratch?

I appreciate your affirming the original process and at the same time sharing a technique in photoshop. Where can we find similar textures? So many I have tried are cheesy so I usually make my own. I would love to see the same image of your friend with no motion and grain to compare what looks more authentic. I have a split tone preset I created in lightroom that I am going to try with one. Excited and inspired. Thanks for sharing. And yes, your English is fine. Better than plenty stateside. Ha

These always fail because of the long DOF. The blue sensitivity and color might be correct, but the feel is always wrong. You'd need a lens with tilt capability to get some of the correct focus. They're too clean.
