Does anyone have all the episodes ? I was watching them on another site and thought I had them downloaded and saved only to realize, sadly, I only had to season 3 😭 .. my special needs son and I were enjoying watching them every night and were on season 7. If anyone has them my son and I would be so grateful to get the rest of the seasons. Thanks so much!!

I bought these seasons as an early Christmas 2022 🎄 present to myself. I just can't get enough of it. Brilliant actors. Linda lavin, Polly Holiday, Beth Holland & Vic Tayback. I 💙 You.

Too bad the "Flo" spin-off tanked. Sometimes stars and their fans thing the characters are greater than they really are.
@johnbrowneyes7534 Жыл бұрын
Flo had weak characters around her. She was better off staying in the diner. She was a very strong character so I see the temptation to move to a spin off, but many times it doesn’t work.
@christansdad Жыл бұрын
@@johnbrowneyes7534 Good analysis...wrong...but good effort. The problem was the spinoff itself. Flo was not strong enough to carry a show. You can't an 80s sitcom around the town floosie. Hell...if that were the case then Barbara Eden's Harper Valley PTA wouldn't have failed. Strong characters have nothing to do with poor themes and plot lines.
@johnbrowneyes7534 Жыл бұрын
Marla Gibbs encountered the same problem. Her character Florence got a spin off but she returned to the Jeffersons. Shirley Hemphill from What’s Happening had a brief spin off also. They were very funny characters but needed the support of the other cast members to really shine.

This was one of the best sitcoms from a time when almost everything on tv was top notch quality. But I'm in a dangerous place. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and in the past few years I seem to take solace from watching all of the great 70s shows to cope. It's a double edged sword, because as much as watching this make me fell better, it doesn't last because I know its escapism. And I feel that I am now living too much in the past.instead of the present. So on the one hand it's therapeutic, but it perpetuates being stuck in the past when I should be looking forward. But life today is so depressing - I hate the world we are living in now. I'm 58 now and this is a very confusing time for me. Some might say 'live in the present, but indulge a little in the entertainment of the past in moderation. But for me it is hard to be in the middle - it's usually too much of something, or too little. I feel dread about the future in that I will be stuck In an emotional quagmire with no way out. Thoughts please.

I read your comment and it really resonated with me. I have some of the same issues as you with anxiety and depression. I watch stuff like Alice religiously (many other classic tv shows and even Classic Wrestling, and classic music). Like you, I wondered why I have such an affinity to this stuff. I kind of think I figured it out. These shows remind me of my childhood and just growing up with my family in general. Those times were filled with happiness, fun, hardly any stress, and everyone in my family was alive and on this earth. So I do find solace in these shows for that reason. And you are right, once the show is over I wonder if I am stuck in the past and not moving forward. I look at my life in general and realize that is not the case. I just enjoy these shows (even specific music) that gives me warm feelings about my childhood and growing up in general when things we're just a little less chaotic. Its just basically fond memories and I've learned over time that to just cherish it. Plus, I will even admit - the quality of TV shows, characters, and storylines from Classic TV is hard to touch. The modern stuff out of TV is not my cup of tea.

I wish someone would o a documentary on the diners of America. I my opinion, the American Dinder is a very special part of Americana. It is a place where people have stopped for a quick bite to eat, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. Countless stories have been shared and told by the customers who sat at different times at those tables and stools at the counter. The diner represents a cross section of America, the people, their stories about their trials and tribulations, and of their happy moments in life as well. Metaphorically speaking, a breakfast of bacon and eggs has been an important part of the many conversations that have taken place there. One can frequent a diner in any kind of weather, on any day of the week, whatever mood you are in. It's a magical place where you will walk in feeling one way, and likely leave feeling another way. The diner is the everyman's makeshift confessional, shrink's office, the lawyer's office, possibly leading to a resolution/s, it also serves as a business meeting place. In short, the diner is a kind of emotional well being clearinghouse for the soul, where every aspect of life's many challenges, good or bad, have been discussed by so many since diners have been around. What could be more perfect than sitting there at a table with your good friends/family, talking about whatever matters at that particular moment, as a blizzard rages outside, and you can hear the ice pellets strike the large window pane as the snow is quickly piles up outside, and the beautiful X-mas lights are twinkling on a very tall pine tree across the street right in front of a X-mas decorated Church. It's 10 a.m., but it may as well be 6 a.m. as it is almost totally dark outside. The temperature outside is -25 degrees. It's like this around this time in Minnesota in December. This diner sounds like a very cozy, and peaceful place right now :-) In any case, the waitress arrives with the coffees for everyone and takes the breakfast order.
