You just don't get the same feeling with a new CD as you did when you got a vinyl album back in the day. Although there's extra stuff on this offering, the original was a gatefold, with the billion dollar note and the press out cards cardboard inner with the lyrics one side and pic of the band on the other. How can it be 50 years since I first got this album? I can't imagine how many times I've listened to it. Amazing album by an amazing band. I'm going to listen to it yet again right now. I was 13 when this came out, my mum was horrified at the lyrics to I Love The Dead. If course that just made me like it all the more. Great review on this.

A landmark album and one that had a huge impact on us as sophomores in high school. I also have the CD version on order and, after hearing your fantastic review of the sound quality, I am even more eagerly anticipating its arrival. I saw Alice on the "School's Out" and "BDB" tours, and both shows were amazing! As youngsters, we had heard about the "Killer" tour, and could not wait to see what, if anything different, they'd come up with for subsequent shows. The "School's Out" Tour was only the 3rd concert I had ever attended at that point in life, and we all exited the performance with similar amazement and facial expressions as we did the first time seeing the film, "The Exorcist", just 8 months later. I don't believe there was a track on the album we didn't love, although I wasn't big on the 'La da da dada' within "Generation Landslide", although the rest of the song was great. The live performances of "Unfinished Sweet" and "I Love the Dead" were amazing! That LP package looks fantastic, but I've put the brakes on collecting vinyl, while I remain in the process of selling my collection. It is a sad yet surprisingly fun retirement project. Just a few thousand more to go. I have the recent remasters for "Killer", and "School's Out", so this one will be oh so welcome!! Thanks for a great "unpackaging" and fabulous review of this long awaited set.

I first heard BDB in 1974, and Generation Landslide blew me away! The harp solo (along with Deep Purple's "Lazy") was one of my main inspirations for learning how to play. 20 years ago we lived in Seattle, and my wife's best friend was the daughter of Rockin' Reggie, who co-wrote the title track.

Great review Barry👍One of my favourite albums from the 70s produced by the great Bob Ezrin...I remember meeting Donovan (Leitch) a few years ago and asking him about his 'Soprano' styled vocals on the title track to which he laughed and gave me a rendition 😂 Only found out recently Hello Hooray was a Judy Collins cover.

I know it sounds crazy, but the artwork, the liner notes and the album jacket are really what I am buying it for. I’ve pre ordered the CD version as I was very pleased with the sound quality of the recent Killer & Schools Out album remasters. I’m surprised we haven’t had a release of Love it to Death as it’s such a classic album but no doubt there’s probably a reason for this🤔 Btw you mentioned the NME flexi disc and I’m pretty sure somewhere in my loft I may still have this. This is a great album with a great review. I love your hearing your point of view. I like the way you articulate and cover all the details on the album package. Just because I have your back. I wanted to point out that when you encourage people to subscribe and say "Like Steven Tyler said "Don't Want A Miss Thing" like a quote, it was a song that was a big hit for Aerosmith but written by Diane Warren. Keep that in mind in case you thought you were quoting Steven's lyrics. Have a great day!!

I have 2 copies of this album, 1 70s copy that I bought in the mid 70s but the cover is split in 2 and the vinyl is quite damaged by being played on some dodgy equipment from that time. The other copy is a later copy with a lot of surface noise that sounds flat. I genuinely can't wait as this is my favourite Alice Cooper album. Got BDB for my birthe in March, 1973. Still have it. I know (from many YT vids) a lot of you guys rank this as #1 for the AC Group...it's a #4 for me. By this time, the mystery & the macabre were coming off. They became more mainstream about this time. My friend's kid sister's teen magazines had profiles on Alice & the guys. "Generation Landslide" is great. "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is a great Pop song. "Raped & Freezin'" is cool. "BDB" rocks. I dunno, the rest is kinda fluff for the stage show. :-)

Rhino has really been nailing these rereleases. The Cars and Alice Cooper releases have been excellent, great mixes and quiet vinyl. The sleeve on this one looks to be the best yet, the dye cut embossed wallet with spot varnish is chef’s kiss! Yes, I preordered and can hardly wait! I always replace the inner sleeves with MoFi types, but that’s my one ding on Rhino, many don’t want to have to make the additional investment - but necessary with paper only sleeves. Thanks for the review!
